Default gator50 explanation of outage and missing data

A few weeks ago the servers array became degraded kicking out one of the servers drives. It was supposed to kick out the bad drive, but what looks like happened It kicked out the good. The bad drive has been running for the last few weeks up until early this morning when it began crawling so slow it would not even boot. What we did to get everybody up as quick as possible was to remove the drive we have been running off of and replace it with the drive that was kicked out two weeks ago. You will notice data that is two weeks old.

We have a backup from the 29th but if we restored completely from this back up everybody would be down for around 12 hours or more. What we have decided to do is restore only the databases which will be done in less than 30 minutes.

where this will leave everyone.........

You will have databases from the 29th and files from about the 22nd. If anyone has a file that they need and cannot live without from the 22-29th please open a support ticket and we can restore it from our backup.

We are extremely sorry for the data loss and are currently working with 3ware and the planet to try and find out why exactly the good drive was the one that was kicked.

If you do need have data restored, you can submit a restore ticket at:

http://www.hostgator.com/restore.php

You will have to click YES to approve the $15 charge but in the notes section along with what you need restored, reference this post about gator50 and you will not be charged for the restore.

I'm sure there will be some time limit imposed on this, so if you do need something restored submit it ASAP, not 2 weeks from now
