Hello ---
All of my domains, both for web access and email access, have been down for just over thirty minutes, since 11:44pm Central time. I'm on Gator16. I realize the folks in Florida have been affected by Hurrican Wilma, but I thought the servers are in Texas (?). What is the ETA to completely restore service on Gator16? Thank you. Sean S.

They are, and there was some reported downtime in The Planet for certain servers in DC4(DC5?). I suppose if you wanted you could even submit a downtime claim because that surpasses the 99.9% downtime if I'm correct.

Hello Again ---
After carefully reviewing my remote monitor logs, it appears that Gator16 has actually been down since 8:12 am Central Time yesterday morning the 24th. All pings and port scans (ports 21, 25, 53, 80, 110, 143, 443, 993, 995, and 6666) have failed since then. My most recent emails arrived just before 1 am Central on the 24th. I check email at random, not on a schedule. Since 11:44 pm Central Time last night the 24th, whenever I try to retrieve messages, each account has timed out. Thanks for your note MachineDog. No word from HG staff though. Sean Sowell

Hi All ---
To update you on this and to confirm what Serra posted above ... The problem appears not to be that Gator16 is down. Instead, it seems to be that Gator16 is inaccessible from Comcast, and perhaps from other ISPs as well. The reason seems to be a problem with ThePlanet's network or domain name servers (DNSs). Below is a traceroute I ran at 22:04 Central Time tonight. I ran it from my location on Comcast's network. The fact that the final two hops reached ThePlanet makes clear that there is no problem with my connection or with Comcast's connections to the Internet. Also, since HG tech support can 'see' Gator16 from their end means that the box is alive and well. Rather, the problem is internal to ThePlanet. HG has escalated the issue and they are working with ThePlanet to resolve it. Time permitting, I'll post a resolution when HG has explained it to me. Cheers ~ Sean "C:\>tracert 70.84.62.226 Tracing route to gator16.hostgator.com [70.84.62.226] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 16 ms 20 ms 8 ms 10.145.64.1 2 7 ms 9 ms 8 ms 68.87.197.61 3 8 ms 9 ms 9 ms 68.87.192.130 4 11 ms 8 ms 15 ms 68.87.192.134 5 9 ms 8 ms 26 ms 68.87.195.26 6 11 ms 9 ms 9 ms 12.118.38.5 7 56 ms 58 ms 57 ms tbr2-p010602.sffca.ip.att.net [12.123.12.70] 8 86 ms 66 ms 70 ms tbr1-cl2.sl9mo.ip.att.net [12.122.10.41] 9 68 ms 68 ms 85 ms tbr2-cl6.dlstx.ip.att.net [12.122.10.90] 10 66 ms 67 ms 67 ms gar1-p370.dlrtx.ip.att.net [12.123.196.97] 11 56 ms 56 ms 56 ms 12.119.136.14 12 58 ms 69 ms 68 ms vl31.dsr01.dllstx3.theplanet.com [70.85.127.29] 13 68 ms 70 ms 107 ms vl41.dsr01.dllstx4.theplanet.com [70.85.127.83] 14 * * * Request timed out. 15 * * * Request timed out. 16 * * * Request timed out. 17 * * * Request timed out. 18 * * * Request timed out. 19 * * * Request timed out. 20 * * * Request timed out. 21 * * * Request timed out. 22 * * * Request timed out. 23 * * * Request timed out. 24 * * * Request timed out. 25 * * * Request timed out. 26 * * * Request timed out. 27 * * * Request timed out. 28 * * * Request timed out. 29 * * * Request timed out. 30 * * * Request timed out. You might want to see if the IP or domain name has been blacklisted by your ISP. Give them a call and find out.
