In order to mitigate a heavy DDoS we were seeing, we've been forced to block inbound traffic on port 3306. If you require remote MySQL connections, please create a ticket with us by emailing support@hostgator.com and we will make the necessary adjustments.

It appears that this attack has migrated to port 80, at this time we are working with our data-center team to implement hardware mitigation techniques.
