FTP server(s)

I've been experiencing problems with FTP servers on Hostgator servers lately (for weeks, I'd say). On more than one account. Problems retrieving file lists, slow connection, etc. I am not the only one who has experienced this. Please fix this! HostGator's FTP servers used to be lightening fast, but now they are like those of GoDaddy's (sucky).

Did you submit this to our support department? If so please PM me the ticket # and I will be glad to personally assist you. There should not be any noticeable slow downs for FTP and I apologize that you are seeing his issue. I assure you we will work with you to get this corrected.

I want to update this thread. I've changed a setting in my FTP client program by switching from passive mode to active mode, and I've stopped experiencing the problem I described above in the account in which I had the problems. Strangely, I haven't experienced these problems in all accounts on HG (I manage several), and passive mode has worked well there.

I've given this enough time, I think, to be able to say, that the issues I reported here have disappeared, and I am happy with the FTP servers at Hostgator again.

I'd also like to say that I was pleasantly surprised to get contacted personally by their CS person being ready to resolve my problems. This instills more confidence in their service, overall.

So, I will continue recommending them to my clients and others. Their servers have been very fast, in general, throughout several years I've used them, and they tend to provide the most up-to-date software (particularly, PHP), which is important to me. Especially, lately. Other hosting providers I've used don't.
