Default Friday 13 badluck

hi guys,

My worst nightmare hit me on saturday morning: I have a jeep tj 2002 with a soft top and when I got off my gf house this morning, my jeep wasn't their anymore

I was park just accross the stree like usuall because the landlord of the appartments made us park their when we are visitors. We have the right to park their and I've been parked their often so neighbors now my jeep even if I don't live at my gf place.

So when I woke up this morning and went out, jeep wasn't their anymore so I called the police to ask if they could help because my jeep wasn't their anymore.

I tought it was taken from me because we are not allowed to park on the side of the street from midnight to 7am until April 15 because of a snow removal law in our City but no it was reported that my jeep had did a hit and run and was abandone on that street last night lolololol. I've parked it myself their lol and I am 110% sure I did not do a hit and run.

So now, the police got my jeep 45 minutes after I've parked it their(I know that because neighbors told me that) and it seem that it was something because their was 5 police car and a towing and it was done in about 4 minutes lolol. My Gf stays in a basement so we could not see anything by the window.

Know it was been 30 hours and they are still making me waiting because they need to investigate more(they are searching for scatches that the jeep don't have lol) and I have to wait until sunday night at 5h30 to get to the police station... It is blowing my weekend off!!!!

I will leave you with the end of story on sunday night lolololol If I don,t get you update, this mean they got me in jail accusing the wrong person because I am absolutely sure I did not had a hit and run but it seems that eyewitness saw a jeep just like mine but they didn't had a licence plate and they just took my jeep by mistake....

doh!!!

I don't know how the police are where you are, but "investigating" around here means looking into the window to see if the guy who stole it is still sitting in it. If he is, they capture him, if he isn't, they go off for donuts.

I don't think they actually make any attempt to solve crimes, I think they just capture people who are doing crimes, the rest don't matter.

That doesn't sound too fun, haha. I guess you can't blame them for investigating... although they may have went a little bit overboard.

That happened with our farm truck when I was in high school. The police woke up Dad at 10am and he was sleeping. They were ready to arrest him because they figured he was sleeping off the night before... meanwhile he had worked a 12 hour shift all night at work.....

Silly police... truck was trashed, ended up in a ditch somewhere..

Police showed up to arrest my wife in an "almost" hit and run. I guess she "almost hit someone, then left." The problem was it was at like 10PM at night. We were both working the AM shift, so that was in the middle of the night, as I had to get up at 2AM to go to work.

They told me it had just been involved and that the person gave them the license number. I took them outside, showed them the dew on the windows and that the car was ice cold. I then pointed out that it was a common car, in a common color, parked under a street light so that it could be seen from way down the street. I asked them if it was possible that someone came down here and wrote down the license number, then called them. I asked them if they had any further questions and I turned around and went back into the apartment.

I would like my story to end like Serra's but it seems my jeep was really stolen, did the hit and run, and they park it right where I left it.

the jeep was not damage in the inside at all to start it so it means that I am the only one that did this(that.s what the police said) Now I need to figure out how to get me out of this the easy way since the jeep as no sign of break in. I now turn my self to all employees where I work because we all leave our coat at the same place and yes my keys are in it. But their is a chip that do not allowed to start the jeep without the original key.. I am so confused that I just don't what to do. This is my worste nightmare ever. No being able to prove that I did not do that hit and run.

The best way to get me out of this is to take the blame of the hit and run, so mean that I would pay the ticket of 288$, my inssurance need to pay for the other vehicule and this will hunt the rest of my life because I said I did something I did not

This is terrible, I just want to not exist anymore, I don't know what happen to the jeep, I did not see it already but it should be my next step today. I've miss 2 days of work already, I am unable to sleep at night, I just want to go in the corner of my room and never leave that corner again...

I'm surprised your local cops don't know how easy it is to get around the 'master key' problem...

Do not plea guilty if you are not guilty. In some places a hit and run is a misdemeanor, and some a felony. Get a good attorney and request lie detector tests (not admissible in many courts.) Can your girlfriend prove you were with her at the apartment?

I got some more informations today on this case.

I have gotten to see the jeep at the coumpound lot today and take some pictures and analyze the damage. To my suprise they are no damage!

The tow truck driver that got my jeep on friday night was with me at the yard and I was looking at him to see if he knows here the police has found the damage. He looked at me and said: back bumper on passenger side.

I contacted my friend that takes pictures for us all the time and god I got multiple images from 2004 that is showing the same dent in the bumper where they suspect I did the hit and run lolol

So now I know my jeep didn't move, that's why they were no damage to it because the tow truck driver told me exactly where he have gotten my jeep and I have proof (pictures and video) that shows the exact dent they are accusing me off on those pictures lol

God!! they are not good for investigating. They told me that this was investigate by professional and that the damage to my jeep was done on friday night LOL when you can see it on 2004 pictures!!

So I should be able to go right in at the police station on thusday with my lawyer and get out of their in just a few minutes this time and my jeep and be free.

No she can't because we are in a relationship but neighbors can and they told me if they need it, they will help me because they know me by view and it is not the first time I went into that appartment.

Just a quick note also. They were 2 police dog on site friday trying to get my trace but could not find me because of the rain... I am glad they did not ! Getten bitten also by dogs and I did nothing wrong!

It sounds as if it's on the way to being worked out.

Unfortunately cops anywhere like to cling to their theories and become logic-proof. Are these the Mounties?

We're all pulling for you.

My support is here as well, sorry to hear these troubles.

It sucks, but sometimes the speediest solution is the best, even if in the case you have to admit to something that you didn't do.

Hopefully the pictures are able to clear the whole thing up for you.

I still like the lawyer idea. Never plead guilty, because once you say you are guilty, they can add charges. Because you admitted guilt to the lesser charge, they can infer that you are guilty of all charges. Its a easy court win for them.

I think the best thing to do in ANY legal situation (this case, car accidents etc) is to call your attorney. That way you can just say "no comment" and give them your attorney's number. Of course you then have to write a few $500 checks. I am actually considering pursuing a career in the legal system.. just not sure what type of attorney yet.

As my late mother used to say, trying to save money on legal fees can be the most expensive thing you can sometimes do.

Yep, scapegoat is the right word. The blamee.

You've got two allies there, your insurance adjuster and the lawyer. Plus the pictures.

Plus, last but not least, the psychic cheers of everybody here.

Oh, and the truth. That should be the most important but when some cops are involved, it may not be.

OK Update on this

I wait all day friday for the police to call me so I can get to the police station and do my decleration and after waiting until 2pm, I just call over my lawyer and he said: Do you have you declaration on paper? I said yes, he ask me to read it to him, make a few change at the end and add the word approximative everytime I was speaking about time because I cannot say the 'time' exactly.

He have called the police that is in charge of my case. He ask to be called back asap or he would get my declaration to the police station on paper today, friday.

It did cost me 300$ for the lawyer to help me do this today but I am sure it worth it.

It has been a full week that they have the jeep at the impound(is it that way we say it?) and the police in charge of my case called me on thursday that she didn't have time to see me and today, again, didn't even called me back.

It is quite difficult to believe that I am still in this case and that I did not do nothing!

I will let you know further on what happen. Since we are friday, I want have my jeep until monday...

Chaloupe--

If you make your way down to NY I'll gladly drive you around

In all seriousness, it just seems like more and more time wasting and bureaucracy. I really feel sorry for you on this whole thing.
