![]() Anyways, I've discovered one major concern... my world wide broadcast show will not be able to have an Art Bell "International Caller Line" because it appears limited to calls between Canada and The U.S.A.. It is somethin to build up with though, for sure, until the business can support the expansions. PLUS, it would make an excellent back up line for another, more global provider as it comes.

AH!!! Understood! I am from the South so I get a lot of Civil War remarks and was pre conditioned to think you were referencing that... I do see now.
Yessir, that is indeed a bummer on the locality restrictions... hopefully that will also change as the system gets implemented and surely expanded. This is just the fresh out of the gate offering so its story has only begun.

FYI, for some explanation on why there are restrictions by country, see the huge Voipo thread elsewhere in the forum. Towards the last few pages a Voipo representative explains some of the difficulty with licensing.

So it turns out this is a very simple and cool offering... it doesn't drive the price up any, just an extra bonus add on. What you apparently get is a 100 FREE minutes worth of having a 1800 number forwarded to an existing number, with a VERY reasonable rate applied to overages, and of course the option to purchase a fuller package if your needs grow beyond those bounds. I say it's genius as an offering, and very useful as an enhancement for a growing wide variety of small businesses.

I had some questions regarding the new Voipo offering for HostGator Business Plan customers:
1. What features does this offering include (CallerID, Advanced Voicemail, Failover, etc.)? 2. Does this offering include the VoIP adapter? 3. If yes to #2, if I place a call using the phone attached to the adapter, does the person I’m calling see my local number or my 800 number in their CallerID? Thanks very much! |

For the toll-free service, it's just a forwarding service that fowards the call on to you. If you have Caller ID, etc on the line it's being forwarded to, it would still work. It doesn't have any features of it's own since it relies on the line you're forwarding to. The residential service does include all that and more. It works just like Vonage basically. We send you an adapter and you just plug your normal phone into it and use it to make/receive calls normally. It's currently being offered at pre-launch pricing of $99/Yr or $15/Mo for unlimited calling to the US/Canada so if you're interested in all those features and a residential line, check out VOIPo.com for details.

Super cool...
Very easy to set up, and I've already had a great customer service experience. Last night I thought maybe changing my number would be as easy as deleting the one and adding another... which it WOULD be if I were a straight up paying VOIPo customer. As a HG free customer though, the back end of the system doesn't maintain a "number credit", so if you delete and add a new one you are auto charged. I submitted a ticket letting them know I had made a mistake, and they fixed it right back up no problem, and told me to let them know if I still wanted to change it and they would allow me to do so with manual help in setting it back to a free one. I decided to just keep my number for now (hoping to find one that spells something cooler than Ma Ass) and not worry them further with it, but it let me know that I could relax into the service and will look forward to expanding with them as my needs grow! Thanks yall, for this super cool, unique and visionary little offering! |

Not to bump an old topic, but I'm a bit confused by this "Free" bit.
I have a business account (have had it for several months) and one of the offerings when I signed up was "free toll free number". I never bothered looking at it until now. But when I click on the "toll free number" icon in my cpanel, I get a $4.95 a month signup page. Is this service not really "free" as claimed or is there some roundabout way of signing up for it for those of us with business accounts? |

Here is some more information: http://support.hostgator.com/article...s-hosting-plan If the order form you are on shows $4.95 or asks for credit card information, it is the wrong one (public form). The one under the Addon links asks for domain, etc but not payment information since it's billed to HostGator.
