Are the forums included with the web sites brandable, or do you have to put up with the software creator's logo?

The fantastico forums are all "open-source" and free to users, so yes. You can pretty much brand/edit/remove/add anything.

Ummmm not exactly. While Open Source software is distributed free of charge, there are usually restrictions on removing copyrights and sometimes other "powered by" links. Read the license for the software you are interested in...

Sorry, I wasn't too clear in my response. I meant any images, coding pieces, etc. If theres a copyright or "Powered by" that they clearly state you should not remove, then of course you shouldn't remove it. But usually thats way at the bottom and not too visable.

Just as at the end of this page there is the small Powered by: vBulletin yadda yadda yadda copyright, yet the main header is HostGators own design, thats how most free forums are set-up. Really most webmasters take a little pride in which scripts they support and maybe had a small hand in helping to improve in the community. At least I know I do.
