An Admin should see this thread within the next while and activate your account for you.

The topic that is a sticky at the top of this section has more information if you are awaiting access. If you go here and fill out the form it will send an email requesting access to the folks that handle that task.

I hope so, I took about 3 months to search and chose the best host company to buy a dedicated server, the hosting company I am using is also a good company, but, a few important details made me chose Hostgator, lets see how the future will be.

Thanks for the welcome.

Almost 24 hours since this post and an email sent and still no response to the email and to the post.

My first impression is not good, a support forum without moderators to respond to the messages is not a good support forum, for sure.

It's the weekend. There are far more support personnel than forum admins, so please be patient.

Support is 24/7/365, I bet they accept clients during the weekend and they accept payments during the weekend, they MUST give support during the weekends, if not, they must tell us clearly this.

It's not a question of patience, business is business.

What I know is that I already paid a dedicated server and I want to enter the private forums to learn many things that I need, to move my sites from the old host and because of this manual full activation, I can't. I must say that I do agree with this manual activation, first they need to verify if I am client or not, that is not a problem, but, they must respond to the email at least, if they do not respond to this topic, any good company MUST respond any email in 24 hours, if not, is not a good company.

Then try using the live chat support at the top right corner of any page.

Support is 24/7/365 but the forum is primarily a peer support forum. The support personnel do not have access to the forum administration, there are only a couple of staff that handle that task. If you have a specific problem you can submit a ticket. Folks here will answer any questions you might have. Many of the regular users have a dedicated server and can help if you run into problems.

The chat support is only good if you have one or two simple questions, it's not my case, I need many questions answered and in this case I know that read previous questions from other clients and the answers to their questions is the best way to learn without the need to wait for responses from the support, that is why I want to enter the private forums as soon as possible.

As I said on my previous post, I don't have a specific question, it's not a case to submit a ticket, I need to learn several things from the scratch, it's the first time I will deal with a dedicated server, I already browsed the knowledge base and all the pages with specific info, also the flash tutorials, but, I need more, and I am sure that only the Dedicated Server private forum will help me.

Yes, this is a peer support forum, but, I also sent an email asking for the activation, and still no response to that email.

As its been explained to you in the previous posts, its the weekend and support people are having a break from their daily business.
If you have a question/s why not ask them here and Im sure that you will get a good and helpful response from people who have dedicated servers.

P.S. Welcome to Hostgator!

If you just need simple questions on getting started, the Live Chat support should work just fine.

If you need help with more advanced tasks just email support at hostgator.com and they will respond in less than 30 minutes usually

Rick already explained clearly that this forum is not an official channel of support, but a PEER support forum, and as such does not have the same type of responsivieness expectations that one of the official channels of support provides, which is indeed 24/7. It is merely another resource, albeit a very helpful one.

If you're itching to get started preparing your dedi, you could head over to configserver.com and find out about getting their mailscanner and CSF (firewall) installed. Their tools can be installed yourself, but it's well worth the price (IMO) and will help make managing your server and email much easier. Almost all the dedi-owners here use them.

If you need billing software, you can also check out WHMAP and WHMCS (which is more popular amongst the folks here), both of which are available free to HG customers, and read up on them.

Best of luck to you.

What the feller is tryin to tell yall is that he just wants to dig through the old stuff and see if he can find out thangs he needs to know that he dont even know he needs to know yet, and would like to git started on that immediately because he has just shelled out the bucks fer a dedicated and is anxious to git started with figurin it all out, as I too would be and most normal folks. Regardless of WHO does MOST of the supportin in the forum, it DOES look sorta crappy fer it to take so long to git forum activation... I recall a couple of years back er so I had to wait longer than what one would / should expect as well. They really should have someone at perty much all times that can come by and do forum acct activations.

I completely agree that the activation process needs to be handled better. We should appreciate that Dr Web wants to look through other posts and learn. Surely if he came here just asking questions that already have answers, he would have gotten angry/not-happy responses from some.

Unfortunately, activation just isn't handled by enough staff.

And just a reminder...in your email about activation, be sure to mention the domain with which you signed up for your HG account.

Yes, I want to look through the other posts and learn, I know from my previous experience that usually is the best way to learn without bother the support. And, as you say, I already noticed that some simple questions from newbies get some aggressive responses sometimes, that will not help, for sure.

As I said, I do agree with the manual activation, but, wait so long for the full activation is not acceptable in any way, independently of the weekend, and 24/7/365 means exactly that, I am talking about the email I also sent almost 48 hours ago that was not responded yet, this is not acceptable, my first impression can't be good.

Thanks for understand my position.

I mentioned it on my email that I sent almost 48 hours ago, but I only had an automatic response requiring to click a link to whitelist my email address that I responded immediately, and I received a second automatic email telling me that my email was delivered and added to sclark [at] hostgator.com whitelist.

Till now, no response, and this is what I consider not acceptable, because email is considered 24/7/365 support, I am not asking support on the forum, I know that is a peer support forum, any company that doesn't respond to emails in less than 24 hours, better close the doors.

We have one person dedicated to activating forum accounts, and they are not here on the weekends. I went ahead and activated your account.
