I am currently running FlashChat (http://www.tufat.com is where you can buy). I just read in the terms of service that you can't run a live chat that uses server resources. Does this mean I have to take down the flashchat application? I am not sure if, or how much, server resources it uses.
Another thread on this board said that it was OK to run live chat as long as it wasn't IRC based. FlashChat is not IRC based. I will take the chat system down if needed. Thanks |

It's not IRC chat, so it should not be a problem. If it's running for a while I'm sure it would have been taken down already if it was using too many resources.
You could ask support@hostgator.com to monitor your server/script when there is some chat activity and maybe they can give some indication on the load. Stef. |

Thanks very much. I would be interested to see what the load really is.

That whole chat thing is my ONLY problem with HostGator. Just seems really odd.

It wouldn't seem odd if 3000 other users were running one and your sites were down or crawling because of it. :0
(yes 3000 is likely a modest count of how many users are on the same box with you.) Hosted domains that is. Last edited by Brink; 12-14-2004 at 11:42 PM. Reason: Meant to say hosted domains not users. |
