Default Flash Streaming Video

Not to confuse live streaming video with regular streamin video, I don't see flash video listed. You list that you support Real player, Microsoft player, and Quick time. I just want to be sure that I can play flash videos too.

I would imagine you would with as popular as flash is, but I did not see it, and wanted to make sure.

If you are wanting streaming servers for any of these methods, HG doesn't have them installed. If you are referencing the ability to do the progressive download while it plays, this can be done.

Yea progressive download while it's playing. And the viewer can also click in the middle of the progress bar, and it will start downloading at that point and play at the same time.

I think this is correclty called streaming video, but not to be confused with live streaming video.

The play while you download ability is there and some people refer to it as streaming or http streaming but actually is mor a progressive download. For more info you can look here for the differences:

Thanks for the link.

So progressive download is just simply a download and the video program on the viewer's computer starts playing as it's downloading.

Streaming allows the viewer to fast forward the clip without having to wait for it to download to that point.

Thanks. I looked at your websites to see it in action.

I see that gator does not have streaming. Downloading is not so bad, but streaming does have it's advantages.

Thanks,

Yeah I was looking into the flash streaming servers and they're expensive as heck so I'm going to stick with just regular.

Well it sounds cool, know of anyone running it so I can see a demo? I looked on the web but couldn't find any demos as far as I know anyway.

Eric, your sites are very nice. Would you be willing to tell me what you use for your flash videos? And are you on a shared plan, or dedicated server?

Thanks, for the flash videos, I bought the player from FlashDen, http://flashden.net/item/flv-player-8-fullscreen/2533

I also bought the player on the top left of the homepage from http://www.afcomponents.com/components/flv_player/

I'm on a dedicated server, those videos use lots of bandwidth and put quite a bit of load on shared servers.

I'm not sure if I will be of any help, as the is an old thread, but I am building a company that does video streaming for small/mid sized churches. I am using flash to do all that. All of our servers are running debian or ubuntu and red5 0.7. This helps us keep our prices low.

If you want, you can check out one of our larger customers, they have over 100 services with us already, and they haven't been with us a year. They read an XML sheet from us, we take stats, and give them back the code for the video player (that is how they embed it).

We have are hosting videos for a ministry called BibleDog.

check em out. If you need help with anything, fill free to email me:

If you are interested in the organization I am creating:
