What do you mean by supports?

Those are browser side applications, meaning the client needs a browser that supports it. The server doesn't run things like that, I can see any reason as to why you can't upload them either...

actually, ive ran into quite a few hosts that wont support falsh and shock wave and so forth, just like host gator will not host streaming media. From what i know of the other host, they have the ability to turn it on or off and the host in which i choose to turn it off for security reasons.

My understanding is that streaming media requires special server-side sofware, and that's why many hosts don't support it. Of course, I could be wrong.

Hmm, this is an interesting one. On the one hand, it should be reasonably obvious that you can use client-side features like Flash and Shockwave, and actually annoys me when they're advertised as if they're special; on the other hand, if you don't actually say it, you get questions like this. Perhaps the "all accounts include" sidebar should say something like:

client-side content (Flash, Shockwave, Java)

This way, you don't get questions about it, while acknowledging that "yes, we know this isn't some wonderful server feature".

lol, possibly, but i have had an account with a host that would not display any kind of flash or shockwave contenet, so of course i did think it was special.

brentdax wins! We support everything but streaming. Streaming requires special software isntalled on the servers. The software is server intensive, and many come at a price.

Sorry for bringing up such a old post, I am bound to read every post on this forum, so that I can help others.

What do you mean you do not support streaming video? Does this mean a user cannot download a video from my site, or as I am strongly guessing, I cannot play videos within a page. in other words.
