Default Flash help

Hi, I'd like some help with a flash template I downloaded. I'd like to be able to extract out just the animation (robot thingy) and use it just on my homepage, the animation plays on every page which is more than I want. I do have flash but I'm not very savvy with it, anyone able to help?

I would recommend to download also the HTML template and just use the HTML pages for all pages other than the main page, it would be easier and nicer!

Agreed. I have never once visited a Flash based site that I liked... never once.

Thanks I was thinking I would do that. Unfortunately I'm having trouble changing the text in the flash file I can't seem to find the text layers. I can see the movie clip for the home page (bottom right) layers panel and up the top in the timeline but no where can I find to edit the text?

if you see text in the flash, it's in a layer in there somewhere. you can click the "eye" in flash to turn off visibility of layers one at a time until you find it, as i recall.

Changing the text can sometimes be VERY time consuming. I've seen some flash templates where each line of text is a separate image, so revising the text requires replacing each image. You'll just have to click on the text regions and drill down through the layers like Dix said.

Hi, thanks for your help I have now found how to edit text under edit symbols. Can you possibly help me with this other bit; I only want the homepage to show the animation as regentronique suggested above but I'm not sure how to take only the homepage out from the flash file??

Which template are you using? It may not be practical to remove only a bit of flash from the page, you may need to follow regentronique's suggestion and use the non-flash versions for your other pages.

Just overwrite the other pages with their simple HTML version. Maybe you will have to copy a few images if some are missing...

Thanks for coming back to me. I'm using template #2275 and when I want to overwrite the pages in flash I can't see the robot guy to edit him out, maybe I'm making this harder than it needs to be?

Are you talking about the small image under the "Work #5656" text?

If this is the case, just check the filename of that image and find it out in the HTML theme version and copy it in the proper directory to edit it afterward.

No I've managed to change that ok thanks. I don't want the robot animation doing his thing on every page only on the home page but I would like to keep the navigation buttons sliding across on each page and I need to make sure I retain the links or just change the links to the static files.

I was thinking that you just wanted "flash" on the main page, but now i understand that you want only partial flash animation on the other pages.

Without seeing the flash template in action it is quite difficult to understand about the "robot guy"!

This would need more work with a flash editor for the other pages then...
