first time this happened to me

yesterday i got an email telling me to verify my hosting account by emailing a scanned copy of my drivers licence and credit card. so i did. my account is now active and everything is fine. I wonder why hostgator is asking people for these information now,or do they just ask you if you use coupons to buy a hosting account.

Certain variables can flag your account for verification like if your signup information was not fully completed or filled out incorrectly. Also if the IP address you used to sign up was far from your billing address that can cause it as well.

The URL in your profile pulled up a canceled account, so I can't be 100% sure what caused it without knowing what your new domain is.
