Okay - I have uploaded via ftp my files to the correct directory and now what? Do I go to Yahoo and change the name servers?
This means I have to "unlock" the domain - is that safe? *stressing out* Bea |

Set up your email accounts first then change the DNS server address.
That way as the new address propogates your mail will start arriving at the new location. You will end up with some in the new location and some in the old location until propogation has completed. Propogation can take from 6 to 72 hours. |

But without knowing what kind of error message you got it's impossible to say if it's normal or not.

For email, just enter your server IP, it does the same job, irregardless of DNS propagation.
In fact, make a second email account in Outlook, using your same email address, and use your new server IP for one of them, and the old server IP for the other. That way you will get the mail, no matter which server it is delivered to, which depends on DNS propagation around the world. HTH, Tom |

Change your DNS, it can take up to 72hrs to fully propogate. e-Mail account setup is instant server side but depends on the world wide DNS system. Yes you should change your nameservers ASAP. You do NOT have to take regestrar lock off of your domain, any form of "identy protection" is a scame IMHO and can safly be unlocked. At worst you will get US mail with people trying to get you to transfer your domain to them. Trash all mail you receive regarding your domain. |

Just be careful not to trash this e-mails "Your domain name(s) will expire in 60 days. Act now to avoid any disruption to email or website services and avoid losing your chosen name(s)." and that the e-mails like this must be reachable/not refused by your mailserver. "ICANN, the organization responsible for the stability of the Internet, requires that each domain name registrant be given the opportunity to correct any inaccurate contact data (WHOIS data) associated with a domain name registration."
