A few quick (and simple) questions

1. My site is currently being transferred from godaddy to HG by the free hosting transfer that is provided. My site consists of just a wordpress blog and simple machines forum. When this process is complete, assuming that the transfer went smoothly, do I have to do anything to get my site up and running? Like upload any files, configure databases, change the DNS servers?

2. I know the transferring process takes anywhere from 24-72 hours, but should I expect any downtime? My godaddy account doesn't expire until a few weeks, so my old host expiring won't be an issue.

3. I currently have the Hatchling plan, which I pretty much ordered by mistake (the Baby or Business plan would suit my needs much better at this point). When you upgrade from one shared hosting plan to another, do you need to transfer your site and databases?

Thanks in advance for everybody's help. I am new to Host Gator, but everything I've read about HG seems to be very positive, especially the service.

1. you would need to update your DNS once you have looked over the site on this end to make sure it looks ok.

2. If you have the hosting up in both places it should hit one or the other.

3. You would stay on the same server so we would just change your allowed resources.

Another quick question. How do I go about viewing my site to check to see if it's okay before changing the DNS? I heard people talking about viewing it through your IP, but I really didn't understand what they meant by that.

The welcome email you received once the account was set up here should have the information about accessing the site using the IP address. It will be in the form of http://###.###.###.###/~cpaneluser where cpaneluser is your cPanel username.

My Plan is Baby Plan and I am on Gator10xx Server

When I requested the Transfer, I was provided with the following Temporary URL so that I can access my website on HG Server:

http://gator10xx.hostgator.com/~cPanelUserName/

Even you can access and view your Website before the DNS Propagation itself on your Local Computer. Check THIS POST
