Default A few questions

1.) On Host Gator, you can host from Linux or Windows. What exactly is the difference?

2.) Can I upgrade my services on Host Gator if it turns out I need more bandwidth, memory, etc?

3.) Does Host Gator give the option to develop your site from raw coding?(HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc)

4.) Can I use a debit card or a Visa gift card to pay hosting bills on Host Gator?

5.) Does Host Gator charge money for transferring a domain to them?

6.) What are some free hosts that do not charge for transferring a domain to them?

Hi!!!

Hope I can answer some of your questions!

1) Linux and Windows are two different operating systems. Windows will support windows applications, and Linux will support linux applications. Also, Linux is more secure and more efficient than Windows. Unless you have specific websites that need a windows server, linux is the preferred choice. One other difference is that Linux files are case-sensitive and Windows files are not.

2) You can always upgrade at any time. We have a form just for that, and you shouldn't experience any downtime at all.

3) You can build your site with HTML, CSS, PHP, etc etc.

4) The different payment methods we accept are MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, Paypal, Checks, Money Orders, Cash, and Wire Transfers. Debit card should be no issue as long as it has a MasterCard, or Visa logo on it.

5) There is a $15 charge per domain that we transfer to our registrar. That $15 includes another year renewal for that domain.

6) Unfortunately, I do not know of any hosts that give free domain transfers, (not that there aren't any, I personally just know of none)

Hope this answered your questions, and we look forward to your business!

Apparently I don't know what I'm talking about. I guess what I was trying to ask is if I still keep my domain on my current registrar, does it cost money to register Host Gator as a host for my domain?

No, no extra costs to leave your domain name where it is currently registered, Simply update the DNS to point to us.
