Hello,
I am interested in picking ordering a plan but have a few questions. The site I'll be running is pretty much just a forum with the VBulletin script 3.03 (same as used here) I am also wanting to intergrate into Vbulletin a live chat (Flashchat) that is PHP and Mysql dependant, would there be any problems with running such as far as against the rules? The forum is Mentioned on air in front of millions of listeners almost weekly and has been picking up steam, the current host is slow (dreamhost) I also wish to have plenty of space to give away to members. Maybe a reseller plan would do? How fast are your servers by the way? As I said my current host is extremely slow and at times it just isn't working what so ever. I was running PHPBB until an attack practically wiped out that board (I did save a backup) but that one time was more than enough for me to change over to a professional board. Thanks for your help and time.. Best Regards, IMW |

Thanks for the reply!
I guess my only other question would have to do with miving the forum over to your servers, I read that you do not allow telnet/ssh for security reasons. I've never used phpMyAdmin, how much of a difference would it be between what I am used to and this program? Also, If I can't figure it out, how much would it cost to have someone import it for me? |

If your current hosts uses cPanel you can create a backup and restore it on your new account here. There's an option in cPanel to do this and we have a tutorial also.
If you don't use cPanel at the moment you have to create a dump at your current host and restore with phpMyAdmin. If you encounter any problems you can ask for help in these forums or mail support@hostgator.com. If you want HG to install stuff for you you should first contact sales@hostgator.com for a quote and more info. Stef. |

If you want to move your database, create a zipped backup of what you have now, download it to your local machine.
~open PhpMyAdmin from the link in your database management page. ~Select the database you just created- it won't have anything in it. ~In the right-hand window at the top select SQL. ~A text area will open with a browse window under it, browse to the zip file on your local machine. ~Single-click the zip file to select it, it will automatically populate the browse window. ~There are choices to auto-detect file compression, leave these where they are. ~Hit either one of the GO buttons on the right-hand side of the pane you are currently in. ~The file will upload and de-compress. If the syntax is correct, you will get a "success notice" at the top of the pane. ~If there was something wrong (anything) with the syntax, the SQL will fail. ~If that happens, extract the zip file on your local machine and open it in your text editor. ~If there any --------------- hash marks between the table drop and create commands, delete them. Delete everything that has ----------hash marks in front of it. MySQL won't read these. ~When the file is cleared of the hash marks, re-do the SQL command in PhpMyAdmin, select the clean text file you just worked on, the SQL will now complete. Hope that helps
