Hi,
I'm going to move my websites to hostgator (one of the shared accounts), but before I do that, I have a few questions. 1. In TOS, I found this: 11) To help reduce usage, do not force html to handle server-side code (like php and shtml). I have 4 domains, and one of them is forcing html files to handle php. Now - will my account be suspended automatically because of this, or only after reaching CPU limits? 2. How many emails can be sent per day or minute? Are there any limits like this? One of the websites sends email upon registration, so I'd like to know. 3. The most popular website is visited by about 5000 users, making about 40 000 page hits (i.e. an average user opens 5 pages). An average page generates in about 3 ms, is this possible that this will be close to the CPU/RAM limits? |

Hello,
I will answer your questions in order for ease's sake. 1) Scripts are only disabled if and when they cause the servers performance to falter or start affecting other sites on the shared environment. 2) Each account is limited to 500 messages per hour. This means each cPanel account and any sites hosted under that account are limited by this limit together. 3) It's really impossible to say whether or not this would cause an issue. Every script is different and requires different resources to parse. This can also be greatly affected by how many queries each process is running as well as whether or not the site is pulling content form other servers/sites. In all cases it is recommended to find a plugin for, or develop your own caching mechanism for the site's script to ensure that even under heavy usage this doesn't affect the shared environment. This can also be off-set by using our Cloudflare service on any site that gets a large amount of page loads, however this service is still fairly early in development and *might* cause unforseen problems. Luckily it's fairly quick and easy to reverse in the event it does. Note that going from Shared to a dedicated server or VPS is considered a package upgrade and is therefore handled for free by our transfers department. In the event your sites are too large or resource heavy for a shared environment we could always upgrade to a more powerful plan and would take care of most of the grunt work for you. Really the only thing the user needs to do is update the DNS records for any domains under the account. This can be expedited quickly if each domain is using one central private nameserver record. Note that normal propagation times would apply. I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions feel free to let us know.
