Yes Yes! For rails sake
When I saw this site in 1st of http://www.rubyonrailswebhost.com/ I tought it had FastCGI. Now I've already paid, I see theres not. I will test a ruby on rails application to see the performance. I hope I don't have to use 30 day's garantee refound guarantee. Hey admins, any idea when It will be supported? WE NEED FASTCGI! |

its true that RoR best run in fastcgi.
cgi is not built for that, and will be quit slow.

Sam,
PHPSuEXEC is a patch for mod_cgi, it basically adds in the PHP Handler right in the mod_cgi c code, and a couple of other things. The answer to your question would be no, PHPSuEXEC would not work with FastCGI. However you can set FastCGI to use SuEXEC which would allow PHP to run as your user name. |

Anything that would speed up things would be welcome.
I plan using Ruby on Rails, therefore, I would definitely like fastcgi. |

How much speed do you folks really need?
I think some of you are just to spoiled on your hi speed and just expect everything now. I get folks in my fourm saying it took 3 sec to load a page like its a bad thing. when its 3 mins then tell me, long as it loads in a reasonable time for dial-up users, its fine. |

I guess the idea is that if you can shave a second off one page load, maybe in a forum you could save a minute??? It's good economic theory, because now you can use that minute for something else... but practically, doesn't make much difference |

I develop primarily with ruby on rails, and would only consider staying with hostgator if they supported fastcgi and / or mongrel.
I am a reseller, and looking for a good home for my business. |
