Brand new here and haven't had any experience with Fantastico. I'm a *nix geek who's used to doing all this stuff from scratch!
I want to play with a few different CMS but I want to put them in my own directory. For instance: www.domain.com/testing/joomla/ Main reason is I don't know which CMS I want to use and the last thing I want is for it to be in my "live" directory. So my question is if I use the Fantastico scripts to install a CMS, do I have any control over the directory? Or failing that, can I just manually install the source into a directory of my choice? Thank you for your help. |

Yes, you can install in a subdirectory.

If you're a unix geek, I'd recommend just installing that stuff yourself. It's all free and pretty easy to install if you're technical. Fantastico installations have been known to leave behind some pretty big security holes. Plus, you get a lot more control doing it yourself.
