Positive Extremely

I decided to register two domains directly with Hostgator instead of going through another registrar like GoDaddy even though the costs were higher with Hostgator. For the past few days I noticed problems with e-mail. I logged onto the website and noticed it pointing to another site. I opened a ticket and was informed that the domains expired on few days ago and someone else purchased them.

NO e-mail from Hostgator that these domains are about to expire, NO option to automatically renew, NOW I LOST BOTH DOMAINS THAT ARE PART OF MY BUSINESS!!!!!!!!

Serves me right for being loyal and stupid. I should have gone with someone like GoDaddy who has their act together and sends alert e-mail when a domain is about to expire. And I would have saved some money in the process.

Let me guess....... the first reply from Hostgator is going to be that it is my responsibility to know when my domains expire and they have nothing to do with it.

One of our sales staff memebers just replied. The domains are still available and have been renewed. It appears that the domains were manually registered through a ticket and the default WHOIS info is showing as the HostGator information, which will not send an email to you before it expires. We have lists that are generated to notify customers who are setup like this, but it looks like yours was not sent out.

We apologize about that and I have added a 1 month credit to your hosting account for the downtime. I have also reset your domain password for each domain to your original cpanel password, so you can go to http://www.hostgator.com/domains to change the WHOIS information to include your contact info to be sure that you receive these emails in the future.
