Extreme Server Load for Semi Dedicated

I already have a semi dedicated server on Hostgator from last 10 months... small problems here and there but all was fine but the problems started when I ordered for the second one .. I wanted to have it transferred from another Hosting provider...Since, I had my contract ending so wanted to move in ASAP.. But Alas.. Even before I pointed the DNS to Hostgator, I see the server load of over 8 and memory usage of over 90%. It really got me frustrated coz I could not afford to move my site sitting on such a server and loose traffic, which caused me to pay to my Old VPS to continue and also to Hostgator. I have logged the ticket for over 12 hours and waiting for someone to reply on it.

BTW, I ordered the Semi Dedicated on Wednesday 5 days back and I`m yet to move...I`m still banging the wall for someone to fix it or move me to another sever.. Today Luckily someone replied after 24 hours saying we will look into it now and *Spoof* .. 6 hours up and still no reply from that person who said we`ll look into it..I see lots of Gator's Staff logging on the forum but .. What do I say? My exp. with you guys is soon turning from Good to Bad

BTW, 48 hours after ticket was logged and no resolution.. I decided to cancel the account (Ticket # BTB-421707 ) and have the amount adjusted with the other Semi dedicated I have with you guys.. It was a bad horror story which I would like to forget.. Dont know why? Maybe you guys did not want more business.. I can only assume that.. My other company has few shared accounts on hostgator too and hopefully the exp. does not bring bad luck to my semi dedicated and other account with you guys..I never faced a case like this in the last 6 yrs of my online life.. Maybe its a good learning! I`m always expanding so in future you guys can offer me good will consider it. I wish you guys good luck!

The server you were on had someone using all the memory which were suspending or forcing him to go dedicated. I have no idea why no one else could figure this out as it took me a whole two seconds.

Hi Brent, Thanks for coming in.. Well I saw your reply.. I forgot to confirm on that Ticket and I have done now.. I wanted to re-consider it again so I went to check for the Server load but I was again put down coz the server load was still running high at over 6 CPU and over 85 % memory usage.. I taught its better to leave things den go for something which is not meant for you.. BTW, I have already paid the current host for this month so there was no point in switching over and I had request to adjust the amount to other Semi dedicated.. If Host Gator can assure me a good server in the last week of November.. I will sign up again, otherwise also no issues.. Good luck Brent!

Looking at the server now the memory usage is fine. As far as any cpu load it's about 95% coming from your site. When I go to apache status the only person showing up in there is you. If I shut down apache the load goes down to pratically nothing.

Looking at your stats your site is getting over 50k page views a day. This is pretty close to a dedicated box since your using almost the entire server our of the two sites on it. Only thing left I could recommend would be go to dedi, or just not worry about it since the server seems to be peforming pretty good even at higher loads now that the memory issue has been taken care of. Please pm me with any questions or thoughts you have on this.

Mr. Brent. I never pointed my Domain DNS of the new Semi Dedicated which I ordered over a month back which I cancelled too in a weeks time. and you say its receiving over 50 K page views.. I`m shocked... I`m not quite sure what you exactly meant by it.. When I never pointed my domain to the new semi dedicated .. How can the server get it?? Shocking to me, I must say..

You can check for yourself login and click awstats. WE probably did a dns forwarder when you upgraded, as when I checked it the traffic was going there.
