Streaming Reseller

Why not start a streaming service for the end customer and reseller streaming?You are a great company and very stable service. There are many service providers streaming, but are pretty bad, very unstable.

Please integrate a new line of business ... reseller streaming with Cast Centova panel ... the WHMSonic is very limited.Hagan get this suggestion to the directors of HostGator, please, we need this service as a reseller.

problems with ajax?

Im trying to get a really simple JQuery and php interaction on my site but even the simplest of methods don't seem to work. Which makes me think that maybe the problem is with hostgator? Do I need to update my PHP version or something?

Site moved to new server and now very slow

Got an email awhile back and was informed my site was being moved to a new shared server and since then performance is very slow. Online chat techs are clueless and are now reading from scripts. Not sure what happened to HG but I've been hosting my site here since 2010 and for the first few years the tech support were knowledgeable and for the most part helpful in getting my issues resolved. Now I'm getting stupid questions and answers that some random person right off the street could ask. It's a shame that their tech support has fallen this low.

I was hoping this persistent slowness issue would have been fixed by now because it's been going on for almost a month. Is this the new norm for shared hosting on HG? If it is I'm going to have to move to different web host.

This appears to be caused by a configuration of a router and we're working on getting it reconfigured and until this is corrected you may notice increased latency communicating with your domains. Gator1293 -- Null Routed IP

Due to a Denial of Service Attack to the server, we have been forced to null route the server's primary IP address and assign a new address for its hostname and primary DNS server. This may cause issues with DNS propagation and accessibility for a few hours while we make these configuration changes. Some accounts may have been moved to another IP address. If you are unable to access your site on this server, please contact support.

Denial of Service attacks are attacks in which a resource is tied up with garbage information sent by attacking servers, keeping legitimate attempts to access a resource from getting through. This form of attack does not involve any type of security compromise, it only makes the server difficult to reach, and it is temporary. VPS vs Reseller

I've had a Reseller plan for several years and am very happy with it.

Recently, the host I'm on has been flagged by spam, and I understand that to alleviate this for my various clients, each would require a dedicated IP address. Since there aren't that many available, Hostgator would only give you one if you bought a certificate as well.

Of course, I'd pass along any expenses to my clients, but I'm wondering if now might be a good time to convert over to a VPS (with CPanel and WHM).

Any recommendations on this?

Also, to what extent would Hostgator help with migration? I have files, databases, crontabs, mail accounts, SSH enabled, digital certificates and forwarders.

I'd also want a dedicated IP address for about 10 or so of my clients.

Hardware Migration

This is the message I just got from HostGator. 48 hours notice and no exact time for a full hardware/ip transfer. HG will contact me when they start migrating? How do I notify my clients? WTF - unacceptable, poor planning and I can guarantee they do not transfer my sites/data correctly and I have to spend countless hours re-configuring my server. I would prefer to transfer my sites myself to avoid unnecessary inevitable screw ups. They didn't even provide specific details on how the transfer will take place.

This server was just purchased Feb 2013, had a catastrophic hard drive crash April 2013 (thank god I do my own backups) and now this. I have been an HG client for 7 years at least and spent probably $40k with them, I hardly ever contact them and pay my bills on time.

I am praying this migration isn't a disaster. Do they assume that all I host is static html sites that can just be copied over? I have been in this business a long time and seldom have ever seen a transfer not require significant work and understanding of each website/service to ensure the process is transparent. It doesn't appear that they value my business very much. :banghead:

Please read this email in its entirety, as it contains very important information regarding your HostGator dedicated server, IP address: x.x.x.x, and the impending mandatory maintenance and migration that will be occurring within 48 hours.

Your dedicated server(s) are being migrated onto brand new, upgraded hardware. We plan to facilitate this migration both as quickly and easily as possible, but also want to assure you that your total satisfaction with this migration is our primary objective. We will keep you updated via email throughout this entire migration.

Please be aware that there may be small amounts of downtime and that this process does require a change of IP address and nameservers, as such it is vital that you take action in regard to the DNS settings once the actual data migration has been completed.

As mentioned, there are several automatic upgrades involved in this migration:

-- All servers will now have a RAID1 hard disk configuration. In brief, a RAID1 is two disks containing exact copies of the data (a mirror) which allows for increased read speeds for faster delivery of requested data. Data can be read from both disks independently or in tandem, which also provides redundancy in the event of a disk failure.

-- All servers also feature an optional Rescue & Hardware Monitoring KVM layer (which is included by default) allowing HostGator to monitor the server for any potential hardware failures and proactively resolve these issues before they result in any downtime and/or possible data loss.

-- All servers will contain quad-core processors with hyper-threading enabled, which allows the for the processor to effectively share the workload at any given moment between cores resulting in the parallelization of computational processes, or simply put: increased speed.

-- All servers are pre-configured to allow for the attachment of off-server SAN (Storage Area Network) backup solutions, allowing for increased flexibility and control over your backups.

At this time, there are no changes needed to be made on your part. We'll contact you with another update, within 48 hours, once the migration process has started. When the migration has completed we will forward the traffic from the old server to the new server and we will send you another update which will contain specific details regarding the necessary DNS changes.

Seems like I could have just went to VPS instead, and still have been able to have up to 4 IP.

Question is, what's the difference in seo hosting or VPS hosting in terms of specs like, processor, ram, etc, etc.
