Once again, (this is the 2nd time in a month) I am not able to RECIEVE any E-Mail on my Hostgator domains. I have other domains on another webhost & have tried sending E-Mail to myself here & it never shows up. I had this same problem several weeks ago & support determined there was a problem with exim config. E-Mail is MISSION CRITICAL to me. THis is fast becoming a MAJOR ISSUE !!!!!

If what he's saying is true he has every right to be upset. I would like to take a look at the issue personally. The majority of email problems are user misconfigurations.
what is your ticket number?

Even on a shared account (it does not matter the price) email should work 99.9% of the time or else what's the interest of having email there? One should not have to buy hosting at the expensive rackspace to have reliable email.
I do have a client with me that is an Association and email for them is mission critical. Without it they cannot comunicate with their 400 members and with some departments from the governement that they do regularly. They are non-profit and cannot afford an expensive solution in a near future. If e-mail fails they have serious problems. I do disaprove the CAPS,the tone on his first post and the crossposting. Vt

I think the mickey taking was a bit harsh. It's hard to judge a user by his 'croc rating'. I'm still a hatchling because I don't post here very often, yet we do hundred of dollars a month of business with HG, and have any number of customers to whom their e-mail services are vital.

There is no reason to have an email failure. For fairly cheap, anyone can setup one of these options.
http://www.dyndns.com/services/prici...x.html#mailhop Even on a $6.95 hosting account, it is possible to protect against an email failure or even keep email going in case of a failure, for just a little bit more. I strongly suggest that if anyone has MISSION CRITICAL email, they take advantage of one of these services. It may well save your business! (Note: This only works for ONE email system, it is of little use to a reseller.) Last edited by Serra; 06-12-2006 at 07:44 PM. |

Good advice. I use it for several years already. That gives you a backup MX so if the server is down the mail is still kept and delivered later. But this did not solve when horde got confused because of having Portuguese characters ( http://forums.hostgator.com/showthread.php?t=3950 ). Not HG fault by the way... just bad language support on horde.Vt
