Ok, I'll describe you my situation then I'll come out with a suggestion.
I have a website with italian visitors, as I'm working on website code to gain much speed I wanted to buy some space in Italy from a hosting wich buys servers at IT.net, thats for their speed because of the location, they're like ThePlanet/Hostgator. For about 1 year I hadn't any problems with Hostgator, sometimes only downtimes because of someone wich needed a dedicated instead shared plan. Your hosting has everything I want, great quality, security and TOP Support wich is very important. Also prices are very very good. I had a bad experience with the Italian hoster, It's quite fast because of the optical connections (18.000 km) of IT.net but it sucks in support, security and I doubt about the experience of administrators. I got deleted folders on my website! They always say that there are customers that don't upgrade their scripts so hackers get access to alla websites... I come to the suggestion: Hostgator has a great experience, good STAFF and STUFF with great prices. Why don't expand business to Europe (I suggesty Germany for speed or UK) and offer plans for europe websites with better speed? I say better speed because America is far from Europe/Italy and the Ping is much bigger. I'm sure that a lot of webmaster choose less quality hosters with big costs because of their speed, location.

Not many hosts choose datacenters in Europe. (The place where the servers are)
Mainly because bandwidth in the USA is so cheap compared to Europe, also not many customers are willing to choose to have their websites hosted in Europe. |

And the percentage of Internet active people live in the USA where the servers are located giving them a lower ping and higher load time.
I my self live in Australia.

Yes but there are many customers from Europe that prefer American Hosting because of their support and installed software. Having the possibility to offer servers in Europe (they choose when they buy) with a bigger price would be great I think.
You could start by buying some servers and see if things go well.

You simple don't ruin nothing as you didn't get what I wanted to say. I'm quite fine with other europeans hostings for pings and speed, but I thinked HG would do it better.
Anyway that's not a problem for me, it was only a suggestion... I don't dream, I look to reality Jordanlw and for sure you're not the person who has the answer, I don't think you'are or you'll be in their staff....

I am not agreement with what you say concerning the band-width, it is enough to see what proposes the French companies.
dedicated server with band-width unlimited. For proof attached link of these two companies : http://www.dedibox.fr/ http://www.ovh.com/ http://www.ovh.com/fr/particulier/pr...res_dedies.xml http://www.ovh.com/fr/particulier/pr...offres_rps.xml There does not exist any limitation of bandwith on these dedicated servers Price : 45$/month I think that today the only advantage for an European of taking a dedicated server to the United States they is that HOSTGATOR included CPANEL, WHM,WHMCS,WHMautopilot billing SITEBUILDER in its packages. Cordially G.F. |

Same thing for bandwidth in Italy at http://hostingvirtuale.com/, I pay exactly the same as hostgator with the difference that Hostgator offers bigger space, cpanel (they have a different one) and other features. The servers are pretty good, there are 100 websites on a dual-xenon. On that server i have the website in my signature, I recently moved it to the italian host for improving my business. (here my pages load under 1 sec with cache emtpy).
If I had cash for doing what I'm suggesting I would't esitate, there isn't a service like hostgator in Europe, I'm pretty sure. PS: Great dedicated servers in France! Good prices

I wish Hostgator was in the EU but most of the customer base is located in the US.

I'm in Europe too but my sites still load pretty fast with Hostgator.
Having support in EU languages would bring lots of new customers though. |

CloudFlare, a HostGator partner, should actually be able to help with this because of our multiple datacenters around the world. If your visitors in the USA hit your site, they get routed to the closest datacenter that will serve them best. |

I've been hosting about 100 websites with Hostgator for 3 years now and regrettably am going to have to switch maybe half of them to Europe as I've found that the speed of connection from Europe is just too slow (they're mostly Drupal CMS websites, the speed would probably be fine for less complex static websites with less functionality).
Currently site5.com looks like the best host with good rates, servers in London or mainland Europe, WHM/cPanel, managed servers (which is one thing that Hostgator's always been great at, as they offer incredible support, which is rare with European hosts). I looked at OVH but they offer zero support in terms of server level config. |

Follow up - If Hostgator offered servers anywhere in Europe, I would stick with them 100%, however they don't. I still feel that way even though I'm typing this while some of my clients' websites are down and I'm waiting for online support!!

I've tried Cloudflare from the cPanel without success, the site remained down after 48 hours

This is highly unusual. Did you contact HostGator after you had the issue? Generally speaking, you only should have issues if you activate at HostGator & then try to activate with CloudFlare directly as well (two different signups).
