I tried to order a package (2 days running now) and everything goes well until the last screen when it says.
An error has occurred and your order cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later. (The configuration with processor is invalid. Call Merchant Service Provider.) I told live support (twice now) and the only advice they could offer is to email in my details AND credit card details!!!! They seriously suggested I send credit card details over email - can you believe that. Thank God I am more savvy than to do that, but how many others aren't? Why can't Hostgator just address the problem? I dunno. So while it's only a review of the online ordering system and support, it's all I can review until i've ordered! |

Do you have a chat transcript available so I can know who told you to send CC details over email? This is not something that our employees are trained to ask our customers and I would like to talk to whoever said that.
As far as the CC declining, unfortunately all we get on our end is "accepted" or "declined". We do not get any reason from our CC gateway why a card is not being accepted, you would need to contact your bank.

The reason they asked for your CC to be sent over email was most likely to try to manually force a ticket on your card.
Granted, sending a CC over email isn't 'smart' but it's not that big of a deal. I've done it a couple times. Over the phone is 'safer' though. You might of mistakenly entered your information wrong? |

That is the merchant service provider ie whoever deals with your processing, it's nothing to do with my credit card company. I've actually been told twice to send my card details via email, can't remember who told me the first time but I got a transcript the second time. Again, my card wasn't declined it was a problem with your merchant account. How many others is this happening to and they simply walk away? All I want is a hosting package!! Here is part of the transcript: C. Brinkley: you could E-mail sales@hostgator.com and ask for assistance with completion of your order. Larry: i dont want to email my credit card details! C. Brinkley: Then I would just try again later. Larry: i have Larry: been trying for 2 days now C. Brinkley: I'm sorry. The only way to take care of this would to have to recieve your credit card details by E-mail. Larry: you're not seriously suggesting that? Larry: as a responsible internet company Sending credit card details over email is very "un-smart", you may as well write them on a postcard. Anyhow I hope someone can help. |

We will be talking to that employee for requesting that.
Please submit an email to sales@hostgator.com so we can look into this further for you. I see that you currently have an active account, we can just add this onto that existing account manually if you would like.
