Question Enom primer

Hi folks,

So far so good! Set up a reseller account, added another domain with little trouble. What I cannot get my head around, or find information about, is exactly what enom is. I know with my reseller account I receive a certain level of enom (what is the feature list?).

Does enom require a website in order to be viewed. Is it simply an account where I can buy cheap domains? Is it a plugin for an existing website to allow me to sell domains?

I have visited the enom site plus the enom pages at Hostgator but I am no further ahead. Can someone clear it up for me?

Much appreciated.

You must submit the form to get an eNom account with reseller status and then you'll be able to add it to WHM AutoPilot so that you're customers may order a domain with their hosting.

ENOM is a domain registrar similar to GoDaddy, etc. where you can buy and manage domain names. If you have a reseller account, you can also sell domain names to your customers through one of their interfaces (Registry Rocket is the free interface that you get with your free reseller account). They also have a couple of other options as well for additional fees.

By default, your "status" with ENOM is a "Retail" account vs. a "Reseller" account. I had the retail account and realized when I registered a domain via the account that it said "Domain Services Provided by HostGator" which is not something that most resellers would want their customers to see in a domain search. I switched mine to a reseller acount, and how it says my company name there instead of HG's. The other main differences are with the default retail account you don't have to fund it with a minimum deposit ($100 I believe) that is required with the reseller account. This is not a fee, it's just your bucket of domain buy money that is debited each time a customer buys a domain from you through ENOM. They do charge a $3 fee I believe for credit card refills, so essentially if you added $100 to a reseller account, it would leave $97 in there for your customers (or you) to buy domains. The last main difference is that the price for domains to you with a retail account is $8.75/domain and with a reseller account it is $8.95/domain. Hope that helps clear things up a bit. For an example of how Registry Rocket interface works, just go to www.hostgator.com/domains and that should give you some idea. You can also upload your own logo to appear on that form as well, which I have on mine.

David - another thought. I assume you need a dedicated domain name for this this interface (Registry Rocket)? How do you integrate it into the site? Is it simply a piece of code that feeds it in? Do you know if there is a list of features somewhere comparing enom retail to enom reseller? Thanks again.

Sorry to dig up an old thread .. but this is the only one that i found that could answer my question. (unless someone would kindly point me to the right one)

My question is regarding the enom retail account -- ive been looking high and low throughout the enom website and i cant find anything there about retail accounts.

Is the enom retail account still being offered by Hostgators to its hosting resellers? Or do they give enom reseller accounts?

Also, for those who are already using enom retail accounts -- is the price still $8.75/domain?

Thanks

Judging by the above description in this tread, we get a retail account. The price per domain is 8.75 and it will say ...Hostgator when they buy it...you have to ask for it through a support page....ah, here it is;

http://www.hostgator.com/changes.shtml

Last one.
