Question Enom for automatic domain registrations

Hi, firstly, is there a customer's forum? I've signed on for a Aluminium reseller account but my vBulletin membership seems to be stuck as a normal member. My server (70.84.234.226) is not listed in the vb registration list of servers. I'll just post my questions here in the public forums:

I'm new to enom and WHM Autopilot. I've manged to get Autopilot running for normal hosting registrations but I would like to offer my customers the option to automatically register a domain name with their hosting package. I understand that this is where enom comes in.

I've signed on for a non-reseller enom account. Do I need to upgrade to a reseller account if I want to integrate enom into Autopilot, such that my customers can register their domain along with their hosting package at the same place in my site?

There will be a US$100 deposit required, but will there be any cost to upgrade my enom account?

In the registration process, will the domain be registered first before payment is deducted from the customer, eg, maybe via paypal, or will the domain be registered only after payment has been successfully deducted? In other words, can a customer with a fraud credit card get free domains off me?

Thanks for your time..

Send a private message to GatorJustin with your username, the ip of your server, your account type (aluminum), and your domain. He will activate your account appropriately.

Yes

There is no cost to upgrade, just the deposit. The conversion to reseller is permanent, it cannot be undone.

The domain will be registered after payment is successful. There is always the possibility for fraud and a chargeback so be prepared to eat the cost of the domain. Some people prefer not to enable automatic registrations for this reason.

Thanks Justin.

I've dropped Justin Gator a pm.

How is payment process for enom's reseller account like? I'll have $100 deposit in the account. Will each new domain registered be deducted from this $100 and I'll just top it up again each month? Or do I need to maintain sufficient 'balance' on top of the $100 deposit in the account?

You do not have to maintain a minimum balance, you just have to have enough funds to register the domains. The 100.00 minimum is the minimum amount you can deposit via credit card or paypal each time you refill the account. If you wanted to refill less than 100.00, you would have to send a check or wire transfer.

Remember that if you refill with credit card or paypal, they take 3% as a convenience charge. So if you deposit 100.00, you will have 97.00 remaining to register domains.

For example, If you have a 25.00 remaining balance in your enom account and you decided it was time to refill it, you could do so with paypal. The minimum is again 100.00 of which they would take 3.00. So after you refill the account again you would have 122.00 to register domains.

So you're saying that after depositing the $100, I can start purchasing domains (automatically via autopilot) and the cost will be deducted from this $100. Once the funds are depleted, I can add more money again. Which also means that I wouldn't have $100 stuck in enom doing nothing, just like the typical deposit from elsewhere, right? The deposit for enom is more of a initial account top-up than a 'refundable deposit' that I can't touch right?

Correct. The cost of the registrations are deducted from that balance. If you deposit 100.00, you will start with 97.00 and the balance will get lower with each domain registration until you deposit your next 100.00 (which will be effectively 97.00 after the 3% credit card/paypal fee). You must keep a balance in the account to continue registering.

Hello

I am also new to Autopilot and set it all up last week, during this time i spoke to support at hostgator via live chat and they advised me that i couldn't integrate enom domain name registrations with autopilot, so i didn't tick the box to do this. is this incorrect advise - can i indeed upgrade the enom account i got with my reseller package to an enom reseller account and then integrate it with autopilot?

Yes, autopilot is capable of doing automatic domain registrations, but only with ordering a hosting package. You cannot use autopilot to register a domain only. This functionality is planned for version 3, but haven't heard too much recently about it. If you are interested in registering a domain without a hosting package, enom provides tools to accomplish that task.

Yes, you will need to upgrade to a reseller account. Just e-mail sales@hostgator.com to request for the upgrade.

Use the IP for your website for enom.
