I have successfully transferred a domain to my new account as an addon domain without a problem. It, however, did not have any email associated with it.
I need to transfer another active domain, this one with email accounts to my new HG account as an addon domain. I know to upload all my files before changing the dns servers. Then I periodically go to cpanel and keep trying to make an addon domain until it succeeds because the change has propagated. I think I have a handle on this part. I am confused about email. Can I set up email accounts before the url dns change has propagated? Is there a chance I will lose email during the switchover? Do I need to do anything else to switch my email over? Will it be transparent to users if I use the same email names/passwords as set up on my old account? Nobody really uses webmail except for temporary situations so I don't have to worry about stored emails. Just current ones. I appreciate any help. Thanks. Karin |

You can setup emails from cPanel without propagation, but you can't check emails. (you can, but it isn't worth doing)
As for losing emails. Yes, you can loose emails if you keep the first account active while you are transfering. You will need to suspend the first account, or check the mail after propagation. |

So if I leave my email with the old host alone, then after I start getting email at my new hostgator site, I can go to webmail on my old host to and pick up any stranded emails?
