Default email questions

I just bought a reseller account, I wonder how to change the limit of emails cause it is set to 1 email account only for my reseller account.

If someone wants to customize their email only without hosting a site, how it is done? if there's a way for them not to access the cPanel but just the email only.

You need to create a package with the specs you want and upgrade your main domains account to the package

in cpanel select mail add and remove accounts. You will be able to add accounts, change quotas and change passwords

Set up a package for email and assign it the theme for email and it will give them an email control panel. Of course it requires a domain and account also.

BTW as a new reseller you did create your own package and assign your account to it didn't you?

thanks for the quick reply...I thought I would lose privilege if I change the package from reseller to new ones. Anyways, if I set-up an account and I just want to host email, I will end up hosting a website as well, right? so no other way to host just an email?

You'll have the capability to host a website, but you don't need to of course.

Back when we used to have to keep track of such on a reseller account, add new account usually yielded the answer or totaling what you see in list accounts. CP11 may have something better. I would have to poke around in a reseller account to see what is available

Answers to windox questions :

1- To see your disk and bandwidth available go to WHM and select "Create a New Account" and you will see the details. You do not have to complete the account creation.

2- To have a eMail only account just create a package having only Mail possibilities and assign th "xmail" theme to the account.

Hope this will help you...

Thanks gtgeorges,

i just reread the thread and just noticed that you answered the email question quite properly. I was on the impression windox just got partial answers from my previous reading...

Comment :

There are many cPanel functions that make the reseller life more easy for account administration but HostGator do not allow them for some reasons.

On all the 5 reseller Hosting companys i tried, HostGator is the only one disabling those functions.

One function i miss really is the "Modify account" that was allowing me to increase or decrease the disk quota, bandwidth, etc. of an account very easily without modifying the package assigned to it.

Yes that would be a needed function and I am pretty sure it was there when we had a HG reseller plan. Might want to drop a support ticket and ask. I know we use to modify quotas for diskspace and bandwidth.

It was removed because resellers could modify their own accounts (they could give unlimited space i think) and add SSH etc,

Ohhh I may have to disable that for our resellers if I find an issue like this!
