Email Policy & Limitations

Just get a google apps account, and change your mx records to send the mail there. http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html
That way any emails you store don't take up your file limit, plus you get to use all of gmail's features

Yeah I would ... I have ONE IP# and can have unlimited email accounts .... if this is really true about this limit on checking for email, then it is silly. No other host I have ever had have had such restrictive policies. And no warning, just a WHAM BAM YOU ARE SUSPENDED???? Can't call it anything else.

Every time you access the server in what ever way with whatever application your application sends a $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'], amongst other bits of info, now it simply a matter of adding up the ip's and you have a method to control...

Sorry, I wasn't clear ... I was referring to the statements in the preceding posts that indicated that the limit was per domain; i.e., per IP#. The "all those accounts" was referring to the unlimited number of mail accounts per domain.

But your suggestion as to controlling the poor mail account users trying to find out if they had mail went past me ... I did not understand how I was supposed to stop them from checking their mail by adding up the IP's (I only have one) via the $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] ... in .htaccess, I presume? Want to explain that in more detail for me, please?

Hmmmm .... I just looked back and realized that this dialog jumps from 2007 to 2009 .... so the post I was reading from Rotag was actually dated 03-28-2007

So the limit is now apparently 30 vs. 60, which is apparently what you were actually referring to. Apologies; my mistake. (sorry, can't get the remove link to work)

Sorry I miss read your question.
The only way you can control it is to set your mail client to not check for email more than once every 10 minutes.

If that is a problem, use novastar's suggestion with google apps
