Unhappy email passwords for domain users

There must be a way for either squirrel mail, roundcube, or horde to be set up where any user on a domain hosted with HG can change their email passwords themselves without going to the administrator to do it for them. I have folks who don't want to use the domain email due to the lack of privacy of not having control over their own passwords. The only way I know to do so now is for me to do it for them in the cpanel.

Surely can it not be set up with one of the hosted webmail platforms for users to have a 'change password' screen themselves?? It's not like we still couldn't delete the user all together if their was a problem but they should be able to have their passwords private via changing it themselves.

Did you try googling? The first result I got was a squirrelmail plugin that seems to do exactly what you want: http://www.squirrelmail.org/plugin_view.php?id=204

Cool!

Is this secure enough? like does it ask for the old password before applying the new one?

Best regards,

I'm considering signing up for a shared plan. With my current host my family/friends can change thier own email passwords. This thread was gonna send me looking elsewhere but I talked to tech support and this is the transcript (is this true?):

Jason: On your shared hosting plans, do individual webmail users have the ability to change their own passwords?
Billy H: Yes sir.
Jason: Would that option be in their webmail client, or a seperate web page?
Billy H: One moment please.
Billy H: in the webmail client, however that only applies to sub-email accounts, not the mail account.
Billy H: Once they get into their webmail they will see a link that says change password.
Billy H: Is there anything else I can help you with?

In the webmail client you can change, but not reset passwords.

How? I can't find that option in any of the webmail clients.

And I tried to install Squirrelmail with the plugin mentioned above, but I can't get it to work.

On the select webmail program page there is an option at the bottom to change password
