Default email issue with a site on jeep using a phpbb

One of my sites on jeep is reporting something strange happening over the last week or maybe 2. On the site is a phpnuke with a phpbb, which emails users to notify them of new posts etc. It has been running smoothly for months, other that the general problems we all have had with jeep recently. The problem is that the site admin has been getting maybe 200 emails a day like the one (extracts) below, which appear to be saying that some of these outgoing notification mails cannot be delivered. We have no idea why this has started to happen as nothing has been changed on the site to explain it. It is mostly hotmail addresses that have been rejected, but there are a few non-hotmail addresses too (e.g.an @msn.com addy).

We know that most notification emails DO get through OK. Those that we know do get through are not Hotmail. There are about 50 email acconts set up on the site and emails appear to go to these ok, except where they have a redirect to a hotmail account.

Any ideas? I can’t work it out. Something in the mail server that is blocking them maybe? There are no email filters, spam filtering or anything like that activated on the site. The original tech support suggestion was that it was smtp related, but the forums are not set to use smtp.

Wink Re: email issue with a site on jeep using a phpbb

A little more information if it helps ....
  1. There are now maybe 12 - 15 people being bounced, and they aren't all hotmail, but a mix of addresses. No obvious pattern to them - some hotmail, some not ... and from USA, Belgium, Holland, Norway, and UK.
  2. The problem is from within the phpnuke rather than the phpbb, because some site admin emails coming only from the nuke are also being bounced.
Biscuits/cookies for anyone who works this out
