Default email hosting only

Hi, I'm going to purchase a reseller hosting.
Now I've a customer who just wanna host email on my account.
Can it be done easily? If can, what are the steps required to transfer only email hosting?

Another topic not relate to this. Can I use those hostgator free website templates with 'Site Studio'/'Site Builder' to edit?

There is a skin for cpanel for email only hosting.

No -- the free templates and site builder/studio are completely different.

the transfer steps are the same as any other account. if you're moving the email only folks from another cpanel hosting, hg can move it for you. i'd recommend that. very easy way to get up and going.

ok. Thanks.. I forgot to mention that they still hosting website on other webhost. They only want to transfer email to host with us.
What kind of details required from their existing webhost? Or what details to put in at hostgator? I'm new to cpanel & whm. any tutorial to handle this task?

So, I can select 'email only' cpanel for this customer?

I'd suggest you start learning as much as you can about the way the server--and your HG account--handles email. The reseller category of the forum has many relevant messages and you can display more pages of the thread list by using the dropdown box at the bottom of the thread index.

Splitting up the website server from the email server can be a headache, especially if the DNS is being handled by the other host or server. You would set up the account normally on your reseller account. Wherever the DNS is handled will need to set up the DNS Zone to have a mail A record set to your IP and set the MX to route mail through your server. They would also need to be sure the domain is not in their localdomains file and is in the remotedomains file.

Thanks,GvilleRick & others..
What I understand from the reply is that their webhost have to reroute every mail go to their server? Is that what you mean?
So my customer have to contact existing host for email hosting transfer & details from there. If they can't set DNS zone & route mail, then dead end?

Maybe a better question is why do they want mail handled separate from the website? How extensive is the website? There aren't many details here which would make it easier to determine what might be needed.

I think they had a package deal of webdesign & web host but no email. If it's too difficult then, I'll suggest to shift all content or let go of this.
No worry, hostgator is still my choice & i'll read more on reseller topic.
Thanks all for the reply..

If you have a good understanding of how DNS works, then having separate email and web servers is no trouble at all. However I stress the word GOOD.

I have many customers with multiple servers or server functions but perhaps not best for you if it's your first attempt.

Good luck.
