Exclamation EasyBe Installation Help

I just invested $69 into my music business by buying a shopping cart that was more suitable for the task I need done. This is unlike any other script I've ever installed on any web server in the past.

The installation instructions are not clear *at least not to me* I can't understand how to get the install page to show correctly to even install the software.

References:

Code:
http://beats4rappers.com/1-2-3-music-store/install.php
This will show a 500 error if I'm not mistaken. If someone can please give crucial information on how to set this shop up correctly I will be more than happy!

EasyBe is currently offering $38 extra for custom-install. But it just seems like they already got enough of my money as it is. I've read good and bad reviews about this software which is why I was hesitant to buy it at first and even more hesitant to buy the custom-install as people complained not getting what they ordered.

If at any point they say permissions of something need to be 777, make them 755 instead.

If that doesn't work, we either need more detail or you can open a ticket with hostgator, where they can use the error logs to see the exact issue.

The initial permission settings were set to 755 on the files they said to chmod to 777.

look here: http://easybe.com/installation_guide.html

I don't understand this one bit. I've never had script this difficult to install and at a price so high you'd expect they would update this software instead of taking money without worry of the end-user's problems.

I don't want to pay an extra $38 bucks to them because it seems like a cheap market trick to me... They want you to stumble into immediate trouble so you can spend an extra $38 for custom install; which I've read reviews of some people still waiting for a response or people who have gotten an "alternate install method" that didn't work.

I don't know what more info to give because i ran into this problem moments after I downloaded this software from their client link. And there is no index.php or other files you might think would come along with this script. It's difficult.

It sounds like a permission error

Change any file that is CHMOD to 777 to 755 instead and try again with your install

Hostgator servers use phpsuexec (which is software that helps with securing your files). On phpsuexec servers, files that would normally be 777 have to be 755, and they will work as if they were 777. Files that are 777 will be unaccessible and generate an error like the one you're seeing. Make them 755.

just tried it... didn't work :S I even deleted all the files and re-uploaded them to the server again and reset the permissions. But there seems to be something going on related to it because I was testing out stuff (before I deleted all files just now) and found that I couldn't access the 1-2-3-music-store folder when I set it to 777. And on Easybe's site, they only require you to chmod the folder 'System to 777' but the default permission is 755.

I searched google for 'Easybe Installation Guides' and found alternate routes but all failed for me. I appreciate the quick responses around here. I wish Easybe had a support forum or a better means of support other than standard emailing.

So just to confirm-- absolutely *none* of the folders are 777 now, is that correct? Anything that they say should be 777 you have made 755, correct?

Positive. But I was testing out chmod settings for install.php. It appears that setting it to 700 loads a blank page rather the error.

Edit:

500 error is showing now so 700 is a no-go.

Here is a source where my search took me:

The actual link to the post that seem most informative:

Time to file a ticket with hostgator support. They'll pin down the source of the problem by looking through the logs. It may be a mod_security thing.

I did, HG said they weren't affiliated with Easybe and told me to try to get support from Easybe. But I think someone did something last night while I slept... install page works now woohoo it's xmas at HG for me a few weeks early.

After I go to the next page from the install page I get this error:

PHP Code:
Warningcopy(/home/*****/public_html/system/config.placeholder) [function.copy]: failed to open streamNo such file or directory in /home/***/public_html/install.php on line 436
failed to copy
/home/****/public_html/system/config.placeholder to /home/****/public_html/system/config.xml
Now what to do?

Disregard that error above.

All i had to do next was place the docma folder outside my public_html directory in the root directory *odd*

But now It takes me to my store but it's not the default page that shows if you go to my address www.beats4rappers.com how do i get it so my store shows instead of the directory.

Store can be seen from this url: http://www.beats4rappers.com/process...tProcess-Start

I seem to find some small errors here and there i think due to other things. I was changing the settings from within the software in the admin panel and I got this error:

XML error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 6

I changed what currecny I wanted to take and got this error so I'm going to dig deep to get this thing working smoothly.

Have you followed the instructions that came with your script?

Yes and that's actually the url the store is suppose to start from too if you reference their install guide page.

http://easybe.com/installation_guide.html

So will I have to redirect my own url (beats4rappers.com) to the one above so ppl can access my shop?

And I keep getting XML errors when I try to add music.

Have you created a mysql database, a database user, and added that user to the database?

Yes, the store works fine if you go to the url: http://www.beats4rappers.com/process...tProcess-Start

I have checked that reference post and I have 28 datbases which they said should be correct anything less needs a fix, but I have 28 in my db for the script.

There's an XML problem that relates to the changing of the settings inside the admin panel for my store preference. Can HG see the log for this error too?

I'm going to work now will be back at 4:30-5pm Eastern

Can anyone recommend a better script for selling digital goods, specifically; mp3 files? Easybe has what any musician needs to sell their music it's just requires a lot.
