Default Domains

Ok before i begin let me just clarify a few things. helps me think better. Dont wanna cause confusion.

i already have a domain which is swiftgfx.com

My friend has been making alot of cash off of google ad sense, and porn, as well as paypal donations, so he wants to create a website so he can do all that. I bought the host just a little while ago which is requestyourporn.com

Since he does not have any hosting package, with hostgator, or any other site. I figure i would let him host of mine. Is there a way i can add the domain requestyourporn.com to my package, but make it so that requestyourporn.com is its own website? instead of having it point to my webpage?

What you are talking about is an addon domain.

In CPanel scroll down to the Domains tab and click on Addon Domains
follow the onscreen instructions to set up the add on domain and this will put the folder for your new site on the www and public_html sections of your plan.
To create the folder without redirecting to your site, be sure at the spot marked document root is left blank so it creates it's own folder. If you fail to do this or enter in your website name you are only creating a subdomain and not a new domain!

From there go to your file manager and scroll down until you see the folder for the domain name you just added. open the folder and upload your own index and default pages for the new site. You can also FTP the stuff on the folder if you set up an FTP username. Be sure your friend has the domain name pointed to the same nameserver as your site and that the name is registered correctly for it to work.

Kewl, but right now im getting two error looking msgs.

One says "That is not a valid Subdomain/FTP username"

and the Other just popped up where you said not to put anything in document root and it says

"Directory paths cannot be empty or contain
the following characters: \ ? % * : | " < >"

It wont let me continue with those errors there

If he's making so much money, then why doesn't he get his own hosting account?

Nice attitude. The question was legitimate and worth considering. I would make sure your friend is aware of the Terms of Service because if he/she decides to do something that is in violation of the Terms of Service your account may be suspended. You have to decide it it is worth the risk. Personally, I would not consider it.

As for the addon domain, directions can be found here.

I'll add on what Rick said cause I'm pretty pretty sure that your account WILL get suspended if your friend decides to do something violating the TOS (with or without his knowing).

If he is making a lot of cash; it means he does have a lot of visitors; which means he is loading the server up & when both of your sites (yours n his) hit any of the load limits both of your sites will be down & at the end BOTH will get suspended.

Now for next time, think twice before calling someone an "idiot"; specially when you are asking for help on a forum, about something you don't know about AND that person does have 3000+ posts!!

However, when specifying the document root of the addon domain, you can change it such that the addon domain loads from a directory in your home directory, rather than public_html. We do have a video tutorial which could help further:
