Like usernamenot (http://forums.hostgator.com/so-peed-...in-t91368.html), I just discovered that my domain privacy has expired, revealing my home address, cell phone number, etc., to the world. I was given no warning about this.
This is a huge hole in Hostgator's service. My account is set to auto-renew. Why don't all of the services I've paid for renew automatically? Do I have to set calendar reminders for every separate piece of it? Very poor.

EarlyOut,
Can you PM me the domain, I want to get this checked out. I totally agree with you there should have been at least a notice saying that domain privacy would need to be manually set. Please PM me which this domain that expired was and I will be glad to look into this for you.

I've been promised that this will get straightened out - with proper notification about account renewal, domain renewal, and domain privacy renewal - once HG takes over as its own registrar, instead of relying on a third party.
Looking forward to it! Mark this one "resolved." |
