Default Domain *cloaking*?

Hello,

I tried to set up emeraldcocktail.co.uk as an addon domain, after the servers had been redirected to mine/yours. First, it would set up the domain, and the subdomain would work perfectly, but the domain would lead to a file not found. I deleted the domain and folder and tried again, but the same thing happened. Then I tried installing it in a different folder, and the domain works, but it's a cloaked domain, not an actual hosted domain. (When I move to different pages, the address in the bar never changes from http://www.emeraldcocktail.co.uk)

What's going on? I had another addon domain that works perfectly, and another that's not working, but I think I need to talk to my registrar about that one. (It's been 3 and a half days and it's not redirected yet.)

Thanks,
Ava

Actually, emeraldcocktail.co.uk is working just fine now.

It's joshlabau.com that isn't working. I rerouted the servers last Friday morning at the latest, and it still doesn't work. Does it ever take this long? I've looked at the nameservers I put and it's exactly what worked for the other two domains, one of them at the same registry.

Ava,

http://www.emeraldcocktail.co.uk works fine for me: when I browse to the "Page 1 - Page 2" links, the address bar changes to show the file names.
If you still have problems: did you carefully follow the instructions in the addon domain FAQ?

Bye,
Stef.

Ah, you were faster

joshlabau.com doesn't work indeed. The whois info shows the gator nameservers, but a traceroute doesn't work. Is this the one your registrar doesn't let you enter the IP addresses for?
Normally it shouldn't take any longer than 72 hours... Did you try to contact them?

Stef.

Not all sources show that the nameservers are gators. In fact some of them show ns_.abac.com which is a nameserver for aplus.net. My guess is that they are still propagating. It looks like you created the record on 09/02/2004 and updated it on 09/03/2004 and not all of the whois info is showing the new information. Give it a little longer, another 12 hours, to see if it has fully propogated. Verisign is an example of someone showing the old information

Thanks for all your help!

I will wait a little longer to see if they propogate, I don't need the domain right this minute. If it doesn't work, I'll call them.

Yes, this is the one that doesn't accept IP addresses for nameservers, but I have another on that same system that works fine.

Thanks again,
Ava

Well, it's been plenty of time and still no change. My recommendation is to contact names4ever and try to get them to have the administrators set the ns manually. It simply is not propagating. I have checked many resources and the whois.names4ever.com is the only whois database that I could find with the correct nameservers.

And about the ip issue, most do not require the ip of the nameserver becuase that can be obtained with a simple nslookup. The only one that I am aware of that still requires the ip address of the nameserver to be supplied is OnlineNIC. Of course, I have only dealt with three registrars.

If anyone was wondering, I did eventually get it working by having the registers reset my dns servers.

Thank you for all your help, even when it wasn't your fault it wasn't working!
