Hello,

I am looking to host a forum through your site.

I currently have a domain www.mysite.com hosted at my ecom site. My question is how do I handle pointing forums.mysite.com with out transferring the domain to hostgator.

I also own www.mysite.net which I can transfer to hostgator, But can I still have forums.mysite.com pointed to hostgator.

Thanks Brian

You would need an active hosting account on here, natruly.

Step 1:
However yes this is easily done, simply add the domain e.g. mysite.com as a parked domain. Then create the sub-domain you desire.

Step 2:
DNS settings for forums.mysite.com should then be set to either CNAME mysite.net or the A record should be the IP of you hosting package server (if intending to send or recive mail with this sub-domain via HG servers you will also have to add a MX record accordingly).

--Added--
Alternativly, you can signup using mysite.com as your domain here on HG and selecting to use existing domain and that you will manualy change the DNS server settings. Then simply preform step 2.

(this is a good option if you only intend to host your forums on HG, or at some stage plan to migrate over to these servers.)
