Default Domain / Addon Email-related Question

I'm considering HostGator, but would like to clarify a question.

Under the "Baby" plan I can have an unlimited number of domains. But, if I were to move multiple domains to a HG Baby account, would I be able to also send/receive email under the addon domains?

In other words, under the "Bably" hosting plan, if I hosted both www.mydomain.com and www.myaddondomain.com would I have access to both myemail@mydomain.com AND myemail@myaddondomain.com?

Or would email under the "Baby" plan work ONLY on the primary domain (myemail@mydomain.com) email addresses?

Hi, yes your addon domains can have email addresses

so you could have bob@domain.com & bob@addondomain.com

It is possible with a resellers account.
Can't say for sure about a shared account.
I would imagine you would be able to. Not much point in hosting multiple domains if you cant use them.

Hi JimH, cpanel done a great job in providing multiple domain hosting in single account. The addon domain will become an independent website with own email address with TLD.

And each addon domain will featured like primary domain.
You can have subdomain for it. You can create email for it.
I just love using it

Thanks ... the replies were most helpful. Just signed up and the Addon feature works just as I'd hoped!

Hi

Is it possible to set up a second domain name to it's own subdirectory without setting up a subdomain on the primary domain?

For example, if I registered aaa.com as my domain name, and now want to add bbb with it's own subdirectory, but don't want to have bbb.aaa.com as well.... possible?

Thanks
R.

You would like aaa.com and bbb.com to each have their own directory in cPanel, correct? This is called an add on domain and it is possible.

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, that is correct. The catch, however, is that I don't want bbb to also be a subdomain of aaa.com, which is what it is trying to do automatically. It also won't let me remove the subdomain after, saying I can't remove it as it is an 'add-on domain'.

Thanks again
Ryan

Perhaps your should contact HG support to see what they suggest, or request cPanel make some changes via their website.

That may be possible with CP11. HG will eventually be running it.

I know you can specify where you what the domain's root, but not sure if you could maybe make a public_html2

I will check into it if someone doesn't confirm before I do

As other people said this is just how it works...but if you search the forum you'll find some .htaccess lines that will prevent people from going to your site by typing in aaa.com/bbb
