Default does hostgator support asp?

Does hostgator support .asp websites? If not, what other languages should be suitable for a high school club website?

HG shared and reseller accounts are all linux not windows servers.

If you need asp or .net then HG has windows dedicated servers.

Click the shared / reseller / dedicated links at the top of the page to see the features each has available.

Unless your club has already developed a huge site in .asp, you're probably better off with a Linux-based server, such as regular shared accounts at most hosting firms, including HG.

Far more ready-to-go applications, such as blogs and content management systems, are written in php/MySQL, and there's a huge base of other apps, many open source (see sourceforge.net).

If your club is not computer- or programming- focused, that abundance of web apps would make it much easier for you to cope with a Linux-based server than a Windows-based one (either can be used with Windows or Macintosh PCs at home).

If your club is computer- or programming- focused, learning the languages and applications that run on a Linux server would probably be more useful than the ones that run on a Windows server, because there are still many more 'nix-based servers.
