Default Re: Do we have problems

I got a reply from support regarding this, and they acknowledge there was a problem (I deleted my mails so cannot remember what it was). However, my site has been stable since the problems was resolved.

Going OTT slightly, HG support is the biggest issue and other folks have also commented on this. Apart from the slowness of recent evenings, I have been very impressed with the server. In the end I am paying money for reliable hosting, which so far I have got.

Your support is the biggest let down, emails can take hours, even over a day for a reply. Online support leaves you in limbo, hangs you up or just impossible to use it. This thread is now several days old, yet no one from HG even ackowledged it until today.

Get your support sorted out, and I believe HG will be right up there at the top

Exclamation Re: Do we have problems

Im a reseller, only have a couple sites on, and my main one has seemed to be slow also in the last week, as well as it takes a Looooooong time to connect to my server for my emails. It used to just zip through em, but lately its been so slow and sometimes even failing.

So our sites are sitting on an old server, then. Isn't that special.

Man, just when I thought I had at last found some reliable hosting, this week has returned my nightmare. I get constant outages or slow responses.

Well, I must say. My first impression of Hostgator were great and I was looking forward to writing up a good post about them.

After this week my impressions have gone downhill. Every day my site has been down, some evenings this would be for hours, and if it is not down then it is so slowwwww it just cannot be browsed. Support emails takes hours, if not longer to reply leaving you in limbo not knowing what is going on. Chat support is a waste of time.

Very dissapointed this week. I have no idea why my site is down, my email from hours ago has not been replied to, I have been on chat support for an hour (I have better things to do!) and still have no idea why this is happening. My connection is fine as I have a dozen emails from my site users asking why the site keeps going down.

What disturbs me is the lack of anyone at HG paying attention to thier own forums. I think you guys need someone who is dedicated to maintaining and checking threads. This thread could have contained offensive images or content, and it would go unnoticed for days it seems......

The only reason I have bothered to pop in here is because my sites and email has seemed to crawl lately, besides that, so far HostGator have been very good for our bussiness.

Well I will be posting something offensive before long, this is rediculous. My emails have gone unanswered for hours now. Chat support left me half way through a conversation then cut me off. My site has been down for hours. This has been happening all week, and other have confirmed these problems too.

No support, no one answers on the forums yet my money is good enough.

Incredible, my site has been down for hours, I just got an email from support saying there is nothing wrong and my site is fine. I just checked and mysteriously my site has come back to life. Wow, can you believe it

I can assure you every single message in these forums are read every day by at least Justin, as the main Forum Admin, and me, as a Peer Support Leader. Ben and Brent also come in frequently and if not, we ask them to post a reply when needed (I don't have answers to all questions because I don't have access to all information and resources). So everyone is aware of what's going on here. Offensive content and forum spam will be removed asap, so most likely you won't even notice it was there.

Brent also posted an update in this thread about the current problems.

Stef.

Well for what it's worth my overall impression is positive (after 10 months here).

Like most shared hosting solutions you are gonna have problems with this or that service being down... mostly these will be short lived and "catastrophic" problems are rare.

I was at a larger hosting company between 2000-2003, they had their own datacenters etc... I paid +/- double what I pay here and only had 1Gb, no possibility of reselling and 10% of the tools we get on here.

In my experience and even though their support was in general better with most questions being answered in a satisfactory form without escalation to level II or III techs I also noticed that whenever the sh** hit the fan in a big manner the people on shared accounts would be on the bottom of the whiteboard while the dedicated and semi-dedicated customers got priority support.

So... there is always a trade-off and in my experience so far being with a smaller host has been better for me.

Obviously I am saying this from the point of view of someone whos income is not dependent on the site (like someone in ecommerc for instance). if your (I say "your" but I'm speaking in general) business depends on the site and it's services being available and glitch free you really need to look at a dedicated solution and some form of SLA.

In summary my opinion from +/- 7 years of this is that it's gonna be really tough to get yourself 100% problem free time with a host and the longer you stick with it (maybe because the userbase becomes more stable as servers get filled) the less and less problems you will experience.

Rgds,
Antonio.

Don`t get me wrong, I appreciate problems can and do happen and I accept that

But every night for the last week, and even during the day is beyond acceptable, and to wait for hours just to find out what is going on does test the old patience!

If only the support could be improved upon then that would make a world of difference. It`s the sitting here not knowing what is going on that bugs me.

I will give credit where it`s due. I sent an email to support at around 9pm, within 20 minutes I had a reply to say the offending site had been suspended, and an apology.

Well done Hostgator, keep it up
