Default Do we have problems ~ Again!

My site was down about 20 minutes ago, but now we`re up and running at a snails pace. I noticed also this forum is running slowwwww. Just checking to see if the problem is hostgator or my end?

Negative looks like we do

Dunno what machine you are on but for two days in a row, during the morning (GMT) I have had embarassing moments with customers when trying to sell webhosting accounts to current webdesign clients on porsche.

The server slows down to a snail pace, cPanel loads line by line (reminding me of how things used to work in the mid 80's) server load shows things up into the 15's.. as we grind towards 11AM the problems suddenly dissapear. I dont think its a network issue because I have two seperate links to the net one going through London another through MID to florida.

The strangest of all is that my emails to tech support are going unanswered which is far from normal HG behaviour. I suspect a possible email problem... as soon as I have time I will post something about that in the suggestions forum, it really is time we have some kind of web interface for our trouble tickets.

Lets hope for better days :-)

Antonio.

Yes we caught someone running eggdrop and suspended them. This forum is not on that server so not sure what was up there, might be your connection.

We are working on the web interface for the tickets, did you get auto responses back with your ticket ids?

To be honest I didn`t write a ticket, I thought I`d wait a while in case it was a server reboot.

I was totally fedup writing tickets to my previous hosts (sometimes a dozen a day) asking why my site is once again down. Nothing worse than working a 12hour shift to find your site down again.

Well, it has been one week since I moved to Hostgator and apart from yesterdays 20 minutes outage, the service has been great. On a similar timescale this easily beats to dire performance I had with my three weeks at Midphase.

Ps. Look forward to the ticket system

Thats great to hear, I noticed the support ticket section in cPanel a few days ago.

As regards the e-mail to support no, thats what I found strange the lack of autoresponse with ticket ID's on both days. I didn't insist as the problems went away on their own.

I`m on Gator 3 and for the last few hours my site is crawling, struggling at times to even open a page. Problems somewhere?

My site has gone down again, for the second evening in a row. My forum members were saying my site was running slow last night for hours, occasionally not working at all! In the last half an hour it is running slowwwwww again

Do we have spammers over loading the server on Gator 3 ??

I've noticed problems with MY site, as well. The past few days things intermittently crawl, speed, crawl, etc. Right now my site isn't even loading at ALL, even though I was just there a couple minutes ago. My forum crawl, my site crawls, webmail crawls, and it has been a constant thing for a few days now. Never wrote a ticket because I figured there was some problem somewhere and that I didn't need to worry about it.. But now..

I`ve only been with Hostgator a few weeks and was about to write a complimentary post about them, but since last night the server has been terrible.

I left Midphase because I had this kind of trouble every day with them. I was sick of writing tickets to them, so I am hoping this is not sign Anyways, I have just sent a support email, I have no idea how long a reply takes because I`ve never had to email them.

Ps. My site has been down just over an hour now, last night it lasted several hours, then would run for a moment, then be down again. No one has responded to this thread from HG, as I made a comment last night about the problems.

This is leaving me rather concerned to say the least

My site has been running slow off and on for 3 days now. Its only a fan site, but after just paying $420 just to get the domain back, I really don't need slowness to deter new visitors right now. I'm also experiencing the same slowness on the board here as the other posters? So far I've had very good experiences with hostgator, any ideas what the problem might be?

Thanks for your time

Dawn

Oh, I'm sure they'll sort it. I don't intend moving, in fact unless the speed problem doesnt go away, I may need to upgrade later. I have a lot more files to upload within the next 3 or 4 weeks

Its just that with new visitors I need the site not to lag.

I am also experiencing timeout, database disconnects, and very slow load times. Its weird though.

Some of my members are experiencing slow loading of the site, but I have not had any problems. More and more people are starting to experience it though.

I have been hearing of these problems for over 2 weeks now.

My site came back online about two hours ago, so I roughly had about two hours of slowness or downtime. Last night was much worse, with it lasting all evening. I am still suffering intermittent mysql problems with my forum

I'm on Viper and I've been paged 3 times since the 5th by my monitoring service letting me know the site is down. I'm concerned because in 3 days I've had 75 minutes of downtime and a big site launch is coming up next week. Uptime has been a bit over 98% in the past 3 days, but hopefully HG knows what the problem is and is having it fixed...

I'd like to have HG give us info when there are server problems, but we can't blame them for the problems - electronics will BE electronics and there is no way anyone can predict when something will get 'hitchy'. I'd just be more comfortable if they posted server issues and resolutions here.

peace

Wolf

Yes, it`s the lack of not knowing what is going on that concerns me the most. My only two support emails took several hours to get a reply, so in that time I am left pondering with my site down!!

BTW, my site has stabilized in the last hour or so, but that it was I thinking this time last night until the problems returned earlier this evening.

Mine has been pretty decent for the last several hours. Compared to the past few days though? Yeesh. I wish they'd at least acknowledge this thread and let us know what's going on.

No one from HG seems to want to respond to this thread, even through several of us have all suffered problems the last few days

I had problems! But for the lust 1.5 days none what so ever.
Hostgator must be got nothing to say at the moment, to soon perhaps. Big provider, big problems, a lots to do, you know the story!

Thanks Stef

I understand slowness to respond to questions in the other forums, but this forum seemed to be set up specifically for HG to let us know what was going on when there were problems. Its easier to post a quick "here is the problem" than field hundreds of chat requests, e-mails and phone calls.

Peace

I am not aware of any issues causing the above, I know the Planet (our data center) upgraded some routers which caused some brief connection problems but not with the slowness you are reporting. Next time the moment this happens can you please email support@hostgator.com to start a ticket and also cc that same email to sales@hostgator.com and mention my name in the body, that way I can take a look right then and see if there are any issues. It would be very odd for people having problems with Gator3 as that server is older so the spammers have been for the most part weeded out and with any slowness or load issues we are warned right away via our monitoring software.
