Default How do VPS's work?

hi ,

How do VPS's work? What software/hardware requirements are there? Is it like having one piece of hardware and using some software to install multiple OS's on it? Can you use one licence to create several VPS's .

Thanks,

Default Re: How do VPS's work?

I VPS isn't multiple OSs, it is simply different instances of Apache all running on the same machine. Normally, Apache runs one process for the whole machine, in a VPS, Apache is running many different times, one for each VPS.

The real advantage to using a VPS setup is that each account can have their on Apache settings and it is more difficult for a process running in one VPS to effect another VPS. As you can guess, running a bunch of different Apache takes more processor power, so VPS machines tend to run a bit slow than normal.
