How do i register your my domain for more than a year

Hello i am currently optimizing my website and one thing that has been sujested is that i should extend my domain name for more than a year as Google and other search engines may penalize my websites my domain will expire soon (in 5 months, 2 weeks ), its advised that i should extend my domain to maybe 5 years or 7 years reason for this is that many spam sites are often registered for short periods of time and my site isnt a spam site. Could any one advise me on how i extend my domain for long time period.
I have the hostgator baby package and i registered my domain name on sign up with hostgator. I havent change any of my hosting so hopefully the process of extending my domain will be pritty easy but help is required. Links to where i should go to extend my domain would also help but if some one cant give me the link it is ok.

Thank mr what it is am trying to improve my ranking and one of the big reason i am failing is my domain and domain name are due to be renewed in 5 months so i am wanting to no how i can extend my domain and domain name for 5 to 7 years . Reason i think search engines prefer domains with longer domain hostings is spam sites they pop up do there spaming then disappear . Thanks for the help you are givin . big smile to you
