Default How do I park new domain name on customer account

How do I park new domain name on customer account!

I have already set up their account and pointed the dns to the servers specified when I created the account.

but when I go into the customer's C-panel it says that domain name it taken by some bodu else. It doesn't seem like a matter of waiting for the dns to propagate.

How ever when I try apply the domain name to my browser it goes to the company the domain name was purchased from and says the site is coming soon

any ideas..or am I being impatient

Hi,

You need to set that domain up at the registarar with your nameservers at hostgator (same ones you use for your main domain) then you can go into the cPanel and park the domain.

Otherwise you will get the "Sorry, that domain is already pointed at an ip address that does not appear to use dns servers on this server or master servers" which is what I assume you are getting now.... otherwise just double check the nameservers and IP's you fed in and sit tight.. in some cases it may be updated quite fast I guess it all depends on your registarar and the master servers.

HTH

Thanks for the speedy reply

Fixed it
on edit: I had to go back and first change the DNS and then submit that and then click "Save the Changes"

Thanks for the help guys.

Again thanks for your reply

Hi again,

I'm just wondering, in your original post you were asking about parking a domain but in this second one you seem to be making reference to hosting a domain.

One way or another the wait for propagation is the same.

I was just curious, the info I gave out was for parked domains... for hosting a domain WHM will not generate an error message even if the domain has not been pointed to Hostgator.

This is pretty good because you can work on your hosting space, get things ready and only point the DNS over when you are happy things are just right.

When we decided on hostgator we ended up testing the service.. uptime etc for 3 months before we "moved in" :-).

Antonio.
