Question What to do with my VPS?

Hi guys, I just bought a VPS, I acquire the lowest plan $19.95 monthly. I don't know how to get started, I mean I want to install an application to it (like WordPress) but I don't know where to start. I have the Container running and can see the files in the File Manager, but where should I put WordPress? I filed a ticket but I did not hear from them for till now (about 4 hours - Ticket ID: GDK-12643535), I think this community is more than willing to help this very stupid question from a moron who wish to learn. I don't understand how this VPS work, I will not be posting here if I do.

I understand that VPS is a soft launch, so everything is tolerable at this moment. Just wish somebody would care the very least client.

Thank you.

Hi, If you want to install wordpress, Once your in your server go to "cPanel" then click on "Addon Scripts" then find wordpress and check the box next to it then go to bottom of page and click "Save" after that go to "Install cp addons" and check that the box next to wordpress is checked if not then check it, then save...that should do it...Hope this helps

My package is Virtuozzo (VZ) Only, I don't have cPanel in my account. And I also want to do the installation manually, that is how I always did in my shared hosting. I want to know where can I put my files to be available publicly or do I need to add a client first before I can do this. I am really lost. Than you for the reply, I hope this will happen to my ticket too.

I added a client with the same credentials as my shared account. This way uploaded databases would work without modifying them.

Hi Misterpat, how exactly did you that in Virtuozzo? A link will be appreciated.

These new VPS's are not managed, therefore you need to either upgrade to the cPanel option (which will suck up system resources) or learn how to maintain/setup the server yourself.

The VPS Hosting page says "Fully Managed (with default setup)". Which basically means you are on your own. I'm not even sure why they are labelling it as fully managed as other VPS hosts I've come across help out a lot more with this type of thing than HostGator are (for an exorbitant price though - fully managed VPS hosting is expensive).
