Hi everybody. I am new here. I want to set up a wordpress.org blog, and so I need a domain name, and I need to host it myself. I also have an online business, and I need another domain name for that business as well, but it will be hosted by the company I am working with. I have never had a doman name, or hosting account before. So, where do I get started? I would appreciate your insightful replies. That would help me to get started ASAP. Thank you. John

Once you have your domain registeredm you would need to then point the nameservers to the ones provided in your welcome email from us. You can then get Wordpress installed automatically by using either Fantastico, or our in-house automated script installer, QuickInstall. These products will make quick work of getting most scripts installed.

Daniel has outlined the basic steps, but if you'd like a little more detail, there's a fairly decent beginner's guide here that explains all the initial elements of setting up your own web site in terms that are understandable to a newcomer.
Creating individual website pages as described in step 3 may apply to the business site setup, but for your own site, you'll probably be installing Wordpress instead. Last edited by virtvir5; 10-08-2010 at 05:02 PM. |
