Just wondering why HostGator doesn't allow people on shared hosting to change their DNS records without emailing support... Is there a security risk? or is the system just not set up in a way to allow it?
Not that it's a bad thing, I emailed support to get my DNS records changed and it didn't take long to get a reply. |

If you want to modify your MX records, yes, you can in CPanel. There is an option where you can modify that.
Other than that, it is not possible because CPanel at user level doesn't has the tools to do it. If you were a reseller, then you will have WHM control panel, where you can modify DNSs. It is not security but access level.
