Question DNS Change

Hi,

I requested the DNS change from my old web host (they're the one's I bought it from originally). I did a DNS Time search on the domain name and this is what it showed:

Searching for towingdisp.com A record at k.root-servers.net Got referral to m.gtld-servers.net. [took 256 ms]
Searching for towingdisp.com A record at m.gtld-servers.net. Got referral to ns2.veraserve1.com. [took 369 ms]
Searching for towingdisp.com A record at ns2.veraserve1.com. Reports an answer.

Record is:

DomainTypeClassTTLAnswertowingdisp.com.AIN1440065.38.168.196towingdisp.com.NSIN14400ns226.hostgator.com.towing disp.com.NSIN14400ns225.hostgator.com.

I'm not real familiar with DNS and name server changes, so I was just wondering if this looks right. I see the name servers have changed, but I'm not sure about the 'A' record - should that still be the old IP address or will this change?

Does the veraserve1.com URL belong to you? If not, you should ask your old host to change your primary DNS server to HG as well, as the extra lookup causes a minor slow down.

Note its spec in your SOA:

Primary DNS server: ns1.veraserve1.com.
Responsible Name: root@2green.veraserve.com.
Serial: 2004052201
Refresh: 14400 (4h)
Retry: 7200 (2h)
Expire: 3600000 (5w 6d 16h)
Minimum/NegTTL: 86400 (1d)

Is there any reason you don't transfer this domain to a new registrar?

I'm not sure why the veraserve1.com is there. The URL is the shared address for the old host.

The domain was purchased at the time the hosting was set up (they're also resellers for OnlineNic). I guess I'll have to talk to them again.

Thanks

The nameserver entries for domain towingdisp.com are not changed, they are:
Quote:
Domain servers in listed order:
ns1.veraserve1.com ns2.veraserve1.com
For me it seems that someone has messed with the zone file of towingdisp.com (in your old hosting), instead of simply changing the nameserver entries of the domain to point to HostGator's nameservers.

That's what I thought. I've sent them another email (being as explicit as possible ), so hopefully they can get it right this time.

Thanks for your help.
